So delicious and so filling and amazing post workout or for a breakfast on the go!

✨1 cup Organic Nut Milk- I like the light canned organic coconut milk from Trader Joe's (pink can)
✨1 scoop Truvani Vanilla Chai Protein Powder- this new flavor is REDICULOUS! (DM me if you want to know where to buy locally!)
✨1 cup frozen organic blueberries
✨1 avocado
✨ Splash of water

POPcorn in particular.. I absolutely LOVE! πŸ’› There are a few health benefits to eating popcorn too! (Woo Hoo!)
🍿low calorie snack
🍿high in fiber
🍿contains phenolic acids- a type of antioxidant.
🍿its a whole grain
🍿may reduce the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension in humans

HOWEVER..
Do not load your popcorn with salt and butter.. a little bit is ok but drenching it is a total faux pas!

You know what I used to think was cool?

Hustling my A$$ off to make $hit happen. I was pushing SO hard to make things happen I didn't realize it was creating this great resistance around what I actually wanted. To me feeling seen, feeling loved was when I became successful. These were the messages from my childhood and became my belief system.

It was when I started to surrender and give the universe/ god/ spirit the ability to guide my right path that things became not only clear but peaceful.

I started meditating every day.
I started focusing on my breath.
I started to focus on the sensations in my body and where I was feeling what.
I let my brain rest.
I listened to my heart.
I began to focus in on my inside self and connect with myself on a deeper level.

It takes time to recalibrate and rewire old ways of thinking and doing things. I have created an amazing toolbox to support this work.

Oh hey! I'm Kali, the founder of Zen Lemon. I am so glad you are here with me on this journey!

For decades I was running to either the bathroom or doctors offices trying to find the thing that would make the pain stop. I had ulcerative colitis. I was anemic because I was loosing so much blood every day. The iron pills my doctor prescribed made me constipated and I would crunch on ice destroying the enamel on my teeth. The steroids that my doctor also prescribed also killed my immune system and left me feeling exhausted. Like so tired I didn't want to get out of bed. The threat of having part of my large intestine removed loomed over every conversation with my physician. Not something I wanted to fathom in my teens, 20s, 30s or even now in my 40s. Nope.

I felt helpless and hopeless. I knew I had to take charge and make a change for myself.

And so I did.

And I healed. Without prescriptions or surgery. I got to the deep root of my "dis-ease" and connected back to myself through hundreds of hours of practical education in health and nutrition combined with nourishing and rehabilitating my second brain with the right foods and supplements and mind-body connection to build back my gut health better than it ever was.

And this is my wish... to help you do the same.

SUGAR! SUGAR. SUGAR...

We are wired to seek out sugar because our brains know sweet food is safe to eat. It gives us a burst of energy from its stored fat form when foods may be scarce. This is how our prehistoric ancestors survived. Craving sugar is in our genes.. it is an evolutionary survival tool.

BUT. In today's world sugar is available in many man-made sources that are toxic and added to so many of the foods we love, creating more cravings and a hit of oxytocin to round out the 'feel good' experience... UGH. Not to be Debbie Downer on Halloween.. SORRY kids! But wanted to share a bit of intel on how sugar changed our lives and is creating some of the underlaying issues that may cause long term health conditions:

SWEET BASICS.
In their simplest form, sugars are carbohydrates composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. There are three main types of sugars: monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides.

While some sugar in the diet helps our bodies move quickly and can help us stay alert, too much sugar can spike blood sugar and lead to crashes. This spike and crash pattern may contribute to larger health problems, including obesity, immunity impairment, memory deficits and risk of heart disease.

my journey began as a self fulfilled quest for my own healing.

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when I was 14. I suffered for decades with a very poor immune system, weight issues, IBD- ulcerative colitis, severe anxiety and deep depression. After too many years of doctor’s visits, prescriptions, scans, tests, diets, supplements, cognitive and medicinal therapies... until I found the elixir that healed me! It was through hundreds of hours of practical education in nutritional health, working with deep somatic and cognitive modalities for a fulfilled life of health and wellness.

I know it is my purpose to help others heal.
