The Heizer AVID students were so kind in organizing a toy drive for our program, Family Time. It’s always so touching when we see our youth supporting our community and becoming young positive leaders. Thank you!!

And thank you Marcus Sparenberg for delivering the toys to us.

Our first group of AVID seniors graduated on Saturday. All seven of them are going to college.
1 to Oklahoma University, 1 to Hardin Simmons, 1 to Angelo St, 1 to Lamar Community College, 1 to University of the Southwest, and 2 to New Mexico Junior College. Congratulations!!!

Several of our AVID students created a Memory Garden on the HHS campus in honor of Lisa Calderon (Freshman AVID teacher who passed away earlier this school year) on Saturday.

It was a great day today at Hobbs Rotary Club as they celebrated our students winning the 4 Way Test Essay Contest and the schools they represent.
1st place winner- Ximena Carrasco- Highland Middle School
2nd Place winner- Isaiah Campos- Houston Middle School
3rd place winner- Abygail Martinez- Heizer Middle School. (Abygail was not present at the ceremony) The teacher who stood in for her in the picture at the ceremony is Mrs. Monica Garcia her 8th grade AVID Teacher. Way to go Eagles!

Took our freshman to visit NM Tech…great campus and tour. One of the top schools in the nation for stem and engineering right here in our own state. And with the lottery scholarship and opportunity scholarships, NM schools are tuition free.

Jr/Sr trip to Houston…visited University of Texas, Rice University (although briefly), University of Houston, Texas A&M, and NASA. Had a great time!!!
