News – Almost

Cable NEWS: At the capital in Houston, at noon, Governor Abbot signed the law abolishing all abortions for any reason.

For 23 hours of the 24-news cycle, there is ALMOST NEWS. The ALMOST NEWS fills the airwaves: “I am certain that there will be many deaths.” “God has forbidden the taking of life under any circumstance.” “The abortion clinics will likely close today.” “Most women will obtain out of state abortions.” “Black and Brown women will suffer the most.” “What does that say about freedom.” “We now see the beginnings of fascism.” “Adoption is an option.” “At last, the Supreme Court has read the actual content of the Constitution. No mention of abortion.”

ALMOST NEWS is incessant commentary about eventual news. Predictions about Abbot’s news. Evaluation of future news. Consequences of eventual news. Opinions about the future. Expectations of responses to eventual news. Lengthy discussion of possibilities of the news. Polling about outcomes of the news. Explanations of various outcomes of eventual news. Renown Professors, Attorneys, Politicians, Clairvoyants, and even regular guys and gals offer their views.

After the experts offer two minutes of opinions about forthcoming NEWS, we are told “on the other side,” and not to go anywhere.

What awaits “the other side” are one dozen commercials. I do not go, depending upon the charm and attractiveness of the commentator. While waiting for the ALMOST NEWS to return, I am treated to the world of The Commercial. The virtue of commercials is that they are declarative. No guessing about the product. Clear statements of the effects of the product. Any prediction of the benefits is immediately followed by testimonials; photos of success; and concrete proof of real events. Commercials never suggest. Commercials declare the ‘facts.’ Commercials have no need for a real event. Commercials tell you the news. They tell you the news about brightness of teeth, smooth toileting, removal of fat, and total pain relief from whatever. Regardless of the format. Be it animation, star cast, or simply one expert, the commercial leaves no need for further information. You have no need for philosophy, historical references, nor protracted commentary. The commercials expert is totally convinced of the merit of the product. No discussion is necessary. “Bowflex Works”! and “Biotrim Trims”!

Mistake..
World Central Kitchen staff killed by Israeli forces. The Israeli defense forces claim that the bombing was a mistake. No deliberate killing of civilians. Problems with accurate communication. Just collateral damage. The IDF claims that “demonstrative” care was taken prior to killing.
The United States military were much more forthright. In March of 1945, the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima was purposeful. Intentional use of the atomic bombs and killing of approximately 200,000, with thousands dying of radiation sickness in the aftermath. Not a mistake.
The IDF are consistent in their acknowledgement of any killings. Their report is always the same. First, the actions are not spontaneous, but well planned, and focused on terrorists. Unfortunately, the terrorists do not fight fairly. The terrorists hide using civilian shields, and they kill any person – Israeli, Palestinian, NGO’s, and others best described as humans. If any civilians are killed, or wounded by the IDF that is a mistake – an error – missed communication – propaganda lie – skillful defenses by terrorists – and worst of all WHO CARES!!
It is not easy defending your existence for thousands of years. Sometimes one makes mistakes. Never forget that Israelis are human beings, and as such can act as such.

Sons of a Bitch..
President Biden recently called President Putin a ‘son of a bitch’ in response to Putin’s allegedly killing of activist Navalny. That ‘bitch’ has another son, who refuses to condemn the massacre of thousands of Gazans by the IDF and demand immediate cease fire in Gaza.
