Are you ready for "A Night of Movie Magic"? We are! The Pinnacle Singers perform classic movie tunes at Unity of Daytona Beach tomorrow evening, June 29th, at 6:30pm. (Tickets available at the door) Our final artist spotlight features guitarist Scott Niebauer.

Focusing his efforts on dual passions of performing and composing music, Scott completed a course of study in music education, composition and performance before earning his Master’s Degree in Classical Guitar Performance at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. It was there that he was awarded the Outstanding Music Major Award. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the State University of New York College at Fredonia, where he majored in music education and music composition. Following college, Scott headed to California where he took part in the San Francisco Guitar Society.

Scott has since performed and taught music all over the United States, and has also studied and performed classical Spanish guitar while living in Caracas, Venezuela.

Throughout his travels, Scott was able to complete master classes and informal lessons with leading classical guitar luminaries including Leo Brouwer, Christopher Parkening, Luis Zea, Roland Dyens, and Lawrence Ferrara.

A native of Hawaii, Torlef has enjoyed many stages of a varied musical career. While a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, Torlef worked with San Francisco Opera, Opera San Jose, Sacramento Opera, Opera Parallele, Berkeley Opera, West Bay Opera, and Livermore Valley Opera. His favorite roles include Scarpia, Marcello, Jack Rance, Horace Tabor, Sharpless, Giorgio Germont, and Prince Yeletsky.

He has also been an active concert performer working with Mendocino Music Festival, Pacific Chamber symphony, Oakland Symphony, Symphony Parnassus, Cantare Con Vivo, Orlando Sings, and the Bel Canto Singers of Daytona Beach.

Now based in DeLand, Torlef has been thrilled to make debuts with opera and musical theater companies alike. Since his move to the East Coast, he’s worked with New York City Opera, Opera Orlando, Indianapolis Opera, Gulf Shore Opera, First Coast Opera, Citrus Alliance for the Arts, Jefferson Performing Arts Society (NOLA), Halifax Repertory Theatre, and the Savannah VOICE Festival. Torlef is so pleased to be returning to Savannah this August as Major General Stanley in the Pirates of Penzance after participating in a beautiful production of Madama Butterfly as Sharpless in 2023, and as Jeff Douglas in Brigadoon in 2022.

Today our Artist Spotlight shines on the multi-talented Giles Howe of the Pinnacle Singers. Experience this prestigious vocal ensemble bring favorite movie songs to life at “A Night of Movie Magic”, Saturday, June 29th at Unity of Daytona Beach.

Baritone Giles Howe has performed worldwide with artists including Josh Groban, Frozen's Idina Menzel, and Queen's Brian May. Headlining acts Giles has featured in, which toured internationally, include The 12 Tenors (China and Japan), Viva Voce (worldwide), and Stars of Opera (England and Wales). He has also performed extensively as a soloist, most recently in residency singing Adult Contemporary material.

In 2018 Giles Howe was awarded two prestigious RTN Awards: Outstanding Vocal Performance and Best Male Vocalist following his New York cabaret debut as a special guest at Manhattan's Triad Theatre. Giles is also a celebrated vocal and performance coach, and is currently arranging and producing an album of original pop music with an international team featuring a platinum-selling guest vocalist.

Giles is the Creative Producer of The Pinnacle Singers. As a theater producer, his credits include the UK premieres of sixteen original musicals. Co-founding The A STAGE KINDLY New Musical Theatre Initiative with Katy Lipsopn, Giles produced many UK and world premieres of new musical theatre and contemporary operas as well as an acclaimed series of new writing revues.

Giles produced the Original Concept Album of SOVIET ZION: an ambitious 2.5 hour contemporary opera he wrote and arranged for a large orchestra, also releasing an accompanying album of bonus material on which he features as a special guest vocalist. SOVIET ZION is the second opera he has written. Following several productions in London, plans are being made to present it in New York in 2024.

The Pinnacle Singers are thrilled to bring their "Night of Movie Magic" show to Unity of Daytona Beach on Saturday, June 29th. Let's shine a spotlight on the members of this premiere vocal ensemble, beginning with Soprano Cass Panuska:

Cass began her professional solo singing adventures in the San Francisco Bay Area with companies such as Berkeley Opera, Opera San Jose, Opera Frontier, Pocket Opera, Goat Hall Productions, Solo Opera, and The Bracebridge Dinner Theatre. She has also enjoyed working with composers in creating new works, showcasing her voice on “The Life Before Us,” a CD produced by Parma Recordings, and was a featured vocalist on Chaz Underriner’s “Meditations.”

Since relocating to Florida, Cass has joined St. Augustine’s First Coast Opera in concert; she was also cast as The Rose in Rachel Portman’s opera “The Little Prince” (2020), and returned as Mrs. Gobineau in “The Medium” (2023). Cass made her Opera Orlando role debut as Mother in “Hansel and Gretel” (2021), and was back in the ensemble for Donizetti’s “The Daughter of the Regiment” (2023), in addition to concerts throughout Opera Orlando's season.

Cass lives in Deland with her husband Torlef and their two boys. She owns and operates Banana Street Voice Studio, produces and hosts Porch Concerts (an intimate winter-time concert series), and runs a small family farm. She is the Director of Music at Unity of Daytona Beach and co-founder of The Pinnacle Singers, a professional singing group based here in Central Florida.
