Today we say goodbye to one of our head cooks Dolores, who has been with us since opening the restaurant 3 years ago. He is moving to Mexico to be closer to family. He will be greatly missed. One of the most loyal and hardworking people I have ever met. Help us wish Dolores good luck on his next adventure!

Here’s an update for those of you who are following Antonio’s journey, battling Renal Medullary Carcinoma.
He had his 5th round of chemo two weeks ago and has been dealing with continued appetite loss, fatigue, and now bouts of insomnia. But on a positive note, he is basically pain free and no longer needs his pain meds. He will continue with his 6th round of chemo next week.
Antonio and I traveled back to Houston, TX last week, for his third PET scan and progress report with his main Oncologist. Getting there was trying, with flight delays, scrambling to find an alternate car rental place that was actually still open, arriving at the hotel at 2:30am, and having to be at the Cancer Center for 7am appointments.
The following morning, we met with his Dr. and he gave us amazing news. He told us that his bloodwork had improved and his scan looked great! Although the main tumor in his kidney remained unchanged, all of the areas that the cancer had metastasized to (lymph nodes, pancreas, small area in lung) were no longer visible!! We were speechless. Thank you God!
On this trip, we were able to meet with another young man, Gregory, who is also battling RMC. His family was so welcoming and his attitude is so positive and uplifting. I am very grateful that we were able to meet them. Antonio now has someone whom he can relate to and I also have a fellow mom, for mutual support.
Antonio’s next step is to have surgery, to fully remove his kidney, as well as some of his lymph nodes. The Dr. wants to have this done ASAP, before the tumor becomes resistant to the chemotherapy. He said RMC is very smart and once the chemo no longer affects it, it can become very aggressive. It will be a long and difficult surgery, especially where the particular lymph nodes to be dissected, are located. We will meet with our local team in Boston and the surgeon (hand picked by our team in TX) at the end of this week, to schedule and discuss the surgery.
