It is the same the time and place as the State Championship tournaments for K-12 Girls and Hawaii Seniors (age 50+). They determine the Hawaii representatives for the Haring Tournament of Girls State Champions and the Irwin Tournament of State Senior Champions at the US Open in Palm Springs in August.

Hawaii Phoenix Chess #6 tournament info is as follows:
When: Saturday January 22, 2022. Please be present by 8:30 am.
Where: The Entrepreneur’s Sandbox (643 Ilalo St, Honolulu, HI 96813).
There is plenty of Sandbox parking behind the building.
You will receive a citation if you park on the street or outside of Sandbox parking. Please ask if you are unsure where to park.
Time Controls: Game in 40 minutes with a 5 second increment (G40+5)
Saturday January 22nd schedule:
Registration 8:00 am to 8:30 am
Orientation 8:45 am
Round 1 9:00 am to 10:30 am
Round 2 10:40 am to 12:10 pm
Lunch 12:10 pm to 1:00 pm
Round 3 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm
Round 4 2:40 pm to 4:10 pm
Round 5 4:20 pm to 5:50 pm
Awards 6:00 pm
Format: A five-round Swiss-System, non-elimination chess tournament (everyone plays all rounds if they wish to).
It is USCF rated. There are two sections: Open and Reserve (Reserve is for players rated below 1500 or unrated).
Players in the Open and Reserve sections are required to record their moves. Chess score sheets, clocks and sets are provided by the tournament organizers.
Entry Fee: $35 early entry fee until Wed, January 19th, 2022; $45 late entry fee thereafter.
$10 discount for additional family members. Entry fees are non-refundable once paid.
Byes: 0 or 1/2-point byes are available in all five rounds (2 max). All 1/2 point byes must be requested before the start of Round 2.
ALL BYES REQUESTED AFTER THE START OF ROUND 2 SHALL BE 0 POINTS.

Please make sure your USCF membership is current before you register.
Prizes: Trophies awarded for Open and Reserve section winners.
Cash prizes based on entries shall be as follows:
Open Section: 1st Place 15%; 2nd Place 12%
Reserve Section: 1st Place 13%; 2nd Place 10%
Additional prizes to be determined and announced prior to Round 3 depending on attendance.
Official Ratings: USCF official ratings from January 2022 supplement will be used for this event.
All participants must be current USCF members to play.
Please bring your own lunch. There is a drink vending machine on site. Restaurants close by within walking distance.
We may need a few extra clocks. Please bring a digital clock that does delay if possible.
AGAIN, PLEASE BE PRESENT BY 8:30 AM.

Schedule For The Day:
Registration 8am to 8:30am
Round 1 8:30am to 10:00am
Round 2 10:10am to 11:40am
Lunch 11:40am to 12:30pm
Round 3 12:30pm to 2:00pm
Round 4 2:10pm to 3:40pm
Round 5 3:50pm to 5:20 pm
Awards 5:30pm to 5:45pm
