Home is Where We Roam
Join us as we travel the country in our F450 The Cookie Monster and our fifth wheel Goldie, finding hidden gems and fabulous people.
Sitting in the sunshine, having some coffee and watching all the people pack up to go home. Not a cloud in the sky. So happy we are here to Wednesday. I might see if we can extend it.
Today, we soaked up the sun's rays by the lake, surrounded by stunning scenery. The water was so clear that we could see countless minnows darting about, while the air was filled with the graceful flight of blue dragonflies.
Absolutely beautiful morning. Enjoying our coffee. Last night we sat outside and look at all the stars. It was so dark you could see everything. We saw a few meteors and a bunch of satellites crossing the skies. No UFO’ s yet but we will keep looking.
Beam us up!
See ya, Carlsbad! Roswell, here we come!
Only Star Wars fans will see it
Exploring Carlsbad Caverns was an unforgettable experience. Our eyes took a moment to adapt to the darkness, but once they did, we marveled at the cavern's beauty. Every direction we looked revealed unique formations, even if seen from different angles. We spent about three hours exploring the cavern on our self-guided tour, and the Senior Citizens National Park card granted us complimentary entrance to the caverns, making the experience even more extraordinary.
Carlsbad Caverns National Park, here we come! Excited to explore nature's wonders beneath the surface today.
We are embarking on a journey tomorrow to Carlsbad, New Mexico, where we will immerse ourselves in the breathtaking beauty of the caverns. After a couple days of rest and relaxation, our next destination is Roswell, where we will venture outside the city limits to marvel at the celestial wonders under the cover of darkness, weather permitting. Wonder if we will find aliens???
It started raining about 10 minutes ago, they said to expect 3-5 inches which is a lot of rain in the desert. It’s already pooling and flooding some streets… and it’s very COLD rain!!!!!
Today's adventure ended at the McDonald Observatory outside of Fort Davis. The stunning mountains await us as we begin our journey back to Fort Stockton, which will be a long but breathtaking drive.
On the road today. When we left Fort Stockton it was 93 not a cloud in the sky. As we approached Alpine we saw the rain. When we reached it the temperature started dropping and it dropped so fast. Within 3 minutes it hit 66. A 33 degree difference. We stopped for a quick lunch and then back on the road to Fort Davis.
What happens when you hand wash your truck??? It rains. Figures. Drove through some hail and some good lightning too.
Hmmm still questioning my choice of direction, but hey at least isn’t HUMID!!!! 😊 There are some benefits to the desert.
Being in Fort Stockton we knew it was going to be hot. I mean it is far west Texas. (Who decided to do this trip in August? Oh yea it was me😂) It’s the desert. We are a measly 2 hour drive from Big Bend. We were told 3 days ago it was 119. We arrive and apparently we get a cold front! It is beautiful outside. Enjoying our coffee. Going to catch up on laundry today and find places to explore this week.
Last night, we had some furry visitors that made our campground look like a scene straight outta Bambi! No pics, though - as soon as I opened the door, they bounded away like lightning! Good thing I enjoyed the show from inside. Today, we're venturing into Fort Stockton for a week of adventure and hidden treasures!
We embarked on a hilarious escapade yesterday to a restaurant called The Screaming Goat - yes, you read that right! They have goats, and they're super friendly! It was a riot watching city kids who have probably never seen livestock interact with them. As for me, I had to find the oldest goat and give him a good scratch. The staff was awesome, and the food was even better!!
Stopped by an old favorite for lunch. It's been a few years since our last visit, but the food was just as delicious as we remembered!
Beautiful morning here at the winery. Purchased Joel his favorite bottle of Red when we arrived last night and it only took him an hour to pop the cork. Surprised it took that long. Anyway it was a quiet night and we are now headed to Cave Without A Name in Bourne. See you there
It’s that time … moving day!! We are going to miss the kids and our friends so much, but it is time to explore. First stop is the Messina Hof Winery, because why not!!!
Some great pictures from yesterday!
Overwhelmed with love and pride for the amazing person she is!
This day has been a long time coming, and I can't believe it's finally here. Lexi has worked tirelessly towards this achievement, and it's a testament to her dedication and perseverance. It's hard to believe that just five years ago, she was embarking on her college journey as a freshman, and tomorrow she will be proudly graduating with a Master's degree.
Our time in Texas is slowly coming to an end, but we will be venturing into New Mexico soon. What heat???
It was a gorgeous morning on the lake fishing. Even better that I was the only one who caught any fish!
