I will start a small series on the what, the why, and who it benefits! ❤️ First up...

The Basics!

There are many learning modes, because people learn differently. Some of us learn better by listening, some by reading, some by doing. One thing we all have in common is that we learn by using all of our senses. ✋👅👃👀

Research shows that using more than one sense to gain information builds stronger understanding and higher cognitive development. 🧠

Young children are especially active learners. They learn faster and can generalize better when learning takes place through tactile and kinesthetic modes - touch and movement. Activities that include these 2 modalities keep their attention longer than auditory or visual learning. While they are moving and manipulating objects in the environment they are able to draw on all senses to integrate learning.

Sensory stimulation is essential for brain development! 🧠

Had a little fun with sensory play for St. Patty’s Day! 🍀🌈

We were a little unsure at first, but a very fun mess followed quickly!

We used aquafaba (the liquid in a can of chickpeas), a little cream of tarter, and a little natural green food dye.
* Whipped it up in the stand mixer
* Scraped it on to our tray with a few St. Patty’s Day themed baby safe toys
* Started exploring! 💚💚💚

Definitely trying this again with some spring time toys/activities!

For preschool aged children and above, I included a quick and easy St. Patrick’s Day themed bin you can whip up with things you may have around the house or a quick trip to the dollar store. 🍀🌈

This bin Included:
• Dry split peas
• 🌈 twisted pipe cleaners
