🚨APPLE UPDATE

Apple has taken a significant step towards improving cross-platform messaging by adding support for Rich Communication Services (RCS) in the latest iOS 18 beta. This long-awaited feature was unveiled as part of the second developer beta released earlier this week.

RCS is a messaging protocol that enables enhanced communication features over internet connections. With this update, iPhone users will be able to enjoy improved messaging capabilities when communicating with users on other platforms, particularly Android devices. These enhancements include:

Sending and receiving high-quality images and files
Viewing typing indicators
Receiving read receipts
Creating and managing group chats more effectively
It’s important to note that while this update bridges the gap between iOS and Android messaging, some distinctions remain. Messages from non-Apple devices will still appear in green bubbles within the Messages app, maintaining the visual differentiation between iMessage and other messaging protocols.

Currently, RCS support appears to be limited to major U.S. carriers such as T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon. The feature will only work if the user’s mobile carrier supports RCS and has updated their network bundle for iOS 18.

This move by Apple comes after years of pressure from users and competitors alike, including Google’s persistent campaign for Apple to adopt RCS. The introduction of RCS support marks a significant shift in Apple’s messaging strategy and could potentially improve communication between iPhone and Android users.

Apple briefly mentioned RCS support during its recent Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) keynote. FELIX FOMENGIA- Rising Cameroonian Techpreneur

Felix Fomengia holds an MSc in Cybersecurity and Forensics at the University of Westminster. Felix is an innovative tech entrepreneur and innovator from Cameroon, passionate about solving problems around his community using ICT and inspiring and empowering the younger generation nationwide.

Through this mobile startup and solution in collaboration with "Open Dreams, an educational NGO" and the U.S. Embassy Yaoundé, Felix served as a facilitator and trainer for the "Training of Teachers on Instructional Technology" Programme, where he trained teachers on how to make use of technology in learning and as a means of distance learning.

In November 2023, he was honoured to be invited by the UK Government to address over 1,400 Chevening scholars and leaders from 140 countries who gathered for the first time in the welcome Orientation event by the FCDO and UK Government. Invited for the alumni address at the Orientation event, He shared his study experience in the UK, achievements from the scholarship year, and advice for the current cohort.

Within the tech ecosystem, Felix's influencing ability has grown in breadth and depth as He has had the privilege to organise and facilitate over 50 training programs, conferences, workshops, and seminars which directly impacted over 19,000 young people, including teachers, students, and young entrepreneurs. He also trains several people on how to develop, promote and monetise
mobile apps that can solve problems in their communities and use social media to create a present and impact for their work.

Through his NGO, the "Felix Fomengia Foundation", Felix has mentored over 50 young engineering students and engineers in his nation. Through his league of influencers, he has organised and exhibited several projects. He launched the School Tech Program, an initiative to introduce students to a project-based computer literacy skills approach, visiting over ten schools, including secondary and higher institutions reaching over 10,000 students across Cameroon, engaging them with 21st Century skills in computer literacy and project-based approach

In a recent development, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a lawsuit against software giant Adobe, alleging that the company has engaged in deceptive practices regarding its subscription services.
