Our new high school level ASL I class is starting soon (Aug 12) at Pearland Homeschool Connection!

At PHC we will be able to offer formal, more comprehensive, graded, 32-week high school level ASL courses that are open to grades 7-12! This will enable us to provide you credit-worthy courses with actual grades that can be used on your student’s high school transcript. There will be projects, assignments, quizzes and tests, midterms, finals, and everything you would expect from a formal high school course. Of course, we will still have tons of fun while we learn hundreds of signs and some signed songs, delve into the art of ASL storytelling, and study Deaf history and culture.

After recently meeting the program director and touring the facility PHC currently calls home, we are even more excited to join this incredible team of educators! PHC offers core classes and electives for all grade levels from 7th to 12th! The variety of courses they offer is extremely impressive and the standards that the teachers and students are held to are admirable. We cannot wait to get started with our new classes at PHC!

I just wanted to let you know that registration is open for all summer sign language classes!
These classes will be held at the Alvin Parks & Rec’s new facility (former location of Alvin’s YMCA) located at 3201 TX-35, Alvin, TX 77511. Class dates and times are on the attached flyer. If you have any questions, just ask!
The 6-class Beginner & Advanced level classes are $55, the ASL Club is $40 per session.
Alvin Parks & Rec does charge a convenience fee for credit/debit card transactions. To avoid the fee, you can pay cash at the Recreation Center. I believe you can still register by phone but tell them you will pay at the first class also.

Have you ever thought about learning a new language? Now is a perfect time!
Our Teen & Adult American Sign Language classes through Alvin Parks & Rec offers beginner and advanced levels.
In the beginner class learn the alphabet, numbers 1-20, and over 300 signs! The advanced class further expands your signed vocabulary, larger numbers, and works on enhancing your ASL communication skills. All classes include seasonal signs as well.
THE NEXT 6-CLASS SESSION STARTS MONDAY, OCTOBER 30.
Beginner class is 6:30 – 7:30 PM. Advanced class is 7:30 – 8:30 PM.

If you have taken our beginner course or another ASL class either in-person or online, you can probably sign up for the advanced level. Advanced ASL will add additional vocabulary and focus on communicating using what you’ve learned.

Our Fall and Winter Beginner and Advanced ASL classes for Teens & Adults are already on the schedule! The advanced class will be at a new time too! Registration opens in August.

We're really excited to add a homeschool ASL class to our others this fall! This will also be held at Parks & Rec. and is for homeschoolers ages 8 - 12. Our Monday evening classes for ages 12 + will still be offered as well. Looking forward to a busy fall!
