Stretching is important for maintaining adequate range of motion of the joints and balance of opposing muscles that contribute to strength, stability, and overall tissue health. If you feel you've been lacking in overall flexibility, here's some of my favorite moves! Make sure to warm up for 5-10 minutes before beginning to increase blood flow to the region and decrease your risk for injury. - Calf stretches: Try to keep your heel toward the ground. Knee straight and knee bent ensures stretching of all the different calf muscles! - Doorway stretches: Step through the doorway with one foot and keep your weight even to avoid excessive pulling at the shoulders. - Quad stretches: Grab a chair or wall if you need stability! - Hamstring stretches: Reach for mid-calf if you can't reach your toes! You control the stretch! - Figure-4 stretches: If you can't reach these poses just yet, try them sitting in a chair for better control. #Stretching #Mobility #Flexibility #PhysicalTherapy #HoustonPT
