The klappenrock is done! Check out the stamping on the inside hem. All of our stamps are from Cat Man Do Designs.
Finishing up the last sewing project for this weekend at The Texas Viking Festival !
This is a klappenrock (Viking style coat). The outer fabric is a soft, textured acrylic herringbone weave that we found at a recent estate sale. It is lined and trimmed in cotton flannel for extra softness and there will be block printing done to embellish the lining.
There are no visible machine stitches on the outside of this coat. Just lots and lots of tiny little hand stitches to finish it out.
Cataloging stock and making sure everything has a price tag. Less than a week until The Texas Viking Festival !
Just finished up this beautiful charcoal colored fine wool tunic! It's the only one we will have at The Texas Viking Festival .
It is knee length with long sleeves. The wool was imported for a bespoke tailor in Houston, Tx that recently closed down. Trimmed in blue linen and traditionally card woven trim.
Dry clean only!
Getting set up for the festival!
It's almost time for The Texas Viking Festival !
We're feverishly building stock and preparing to set up shop with Garcia Primitives and The Longbow Shop at Sherwood Forest Faire at the beautiful Valkyrie Ranch
Shop cat Sam is supervising this evening. He likes to sit on our antique stitching horse and complain about not getting enough attention.
Designs were made.
Designs were re-made.
Sketchbooks were filled.
Components were ordered in from four continents.
Pieces were shaped, painted, carved, painted again, polished, sealed.
More than a hundred feet of hand stitching was sewn.
Here in the workshop, we feel like it was all worth it. We are pleased to unveil, after many months of production, our Mongolian Masterwork belt- the Kublai.
Every surface of this belt is covered in Mongol design and motif hand-carving. Layer upon layer of ornament and embellishment produce a work of opulence and luxury. Metalwork from our friends at ArmourAndCastings and other small craftsmen make this belt shine - a prize in the great Khan's treasure vaults.
As always, all the work you see is done by hand: hand carved, hand painted, hand sewn; no stamping, tooling, and absolutely no lasers or stitching machines in our construction.
This belt already has a home, but reach out to us to talk about building your dream gear.
A sneak peek of a few belts that have just left the workshop.
Stay tuned here for upcoming posts on the Ragnarok, the Lord of the Black Sails, and the Mongolian Masterwork project.
Our bow cases are made with three suspension points so you can customize the fit to you or your saddle. They can be worn on the belt but we find them to have the most stability when mounted to the saddle. No one likes a flappy bow case.
Inside the Workshop today....
We admit it- the purple slaps.
We're hard at work, producing some beautiful sets and gorgeous garb for The Texas Viking Festival. Come visit us at the festival and try it out for yourself!
Or, talk to us about making your dream gear a reality.
The fabric gods have blessed us this week. We accidentally found a treasure trove of absolutely decadent vintage suiting fabrics. All wool or wool blend except for one full bolt of 100% silk lining material.
These are too light for coats, but will make some amazing cooler weather deels and possibly nomad shirts.
The Witch is going to be very busy!
New stamps from Cat Man Do Designs just arrived! Gryphons based on Byzantine art. We're going to need more shelves to store these beauties.
Another coat in progress. Outer fabric is a modern synthetic and came from a decommissioned museum exhibit. Lining is hand stamped cotton flannel.
Sneak peeks. Wine/purple colored wool blend coat with teal lining in progress. It has pockets.
We went to an estate sale today at the home of a lifelong professional seamstress and scored some excellent fabrics! Most are natural fibers including lots of wool and an entire bolt of untouched hand woven cotton. Expect to see several one of a kind pieces soon!
Early stages of a belt panel for an upcoming Pirate themed horseman's belt.
Coming Soon: The King of the Black Sails
A passion project recently brought to life in our workshop: Ragnarok, the Twilight of the Gods.
Flanking the front, Hati and Sköll have chased down sun and the moon, signaling the end of days. Odin and the Einharjar march to battle, crossing the tangled coils of the world serpent, Jormungandr. In the middle, the great wolf Fenrir has broken the chain Gleipnir and brings war to the Gods.
This belt is an example of our Prestige line. Layer upon layer of carving, custom shapes, and custom metalwork make this 5" wide belt a standout addition to your garb - or a suitable piece to build a whole new look around.
As always, everything you see is hand worked: hand carved, painted, stitched. No lasers, tooling, stamping, or stitching machines here.
This belt is currently available - reach out to us to inquire about sizing and price, or to discuss building your own custom dream gear.
Special thanks to TLC Leathercraft/Today's Leather and Chain for providing us with the gorgeous Odin and Warrior pieces from ArmourAndCastings.
Finishing the last pieces of the Mongolian masterwork belt.
These shoulders will frame the belt, and feature a micro-carved cloud motif and Mongolian endless knots.
As always, all the leatherwork is carved by hand - no lasers, stamps, or tooling.
Keep watching for more updates on this project!

The silk juban from the in progress picture the other day is complete. Made from vintage saris and carefully hand stamped with a 13th century Yuan Mongol winged lions motif. The white silk panel in the back was done to make up for not having quite enough of the orange silk to do the full garment, but it worked out beautifully to showcase the stamps.
The juban is typically worn as a fine underlayer for your nomadic robes but works quite nicely on its own as a garment for luxurious lounging around your camp or home.
Suitable for any gender. Hand wash in cool water with a little bit of shampoo. Gently squeeze out the excess water, but do not wring it out. Lay flat to dry and then iron on a silk setting as needed. One size fits most but measurements can be discussed in messenger if needed.
This one is $85 plus tax/shipping. Message to claim or see it and more in December at The Texas Viking Festival.
We love supporting other makers and small businesses so the silk was sourced from Miriam's Yarns and Fibers and the wood block stamp is from Cat Man Do Designs
So much ironing and stitching to get the collar right on these silk jubans, but so worth it. The Witch is back at it sewing up new stock for Yuletide at The Texas Viking Festival

Come visit us tomorrow at The Longbow Shop at Sherwood Forest Faire and get your hands on some some fine leather and some excellent garb!
TBT to this Persian themed mounted archery quiver: bright colors, hand-carving, and tiny details throughout (yes, we color-matched inside the belt holes because we're crazy) make this a one of a kind treasure for the archer that commissioned the piece.
The Witch has spent the evening hand-stamping a linen-blend Nomad shirt. We will have a few Norse tunics, Nomad shirts, and silk Nomad shirts available at Sherwood Celtic Music Festival & Highland Games and at The Texas Viking Festival in September. Come visit us at The Longbow Shop at Sherwood Forest Faire to get your own!
A sleek, custom mounted archery delivery we made last year for a collector. Love the way the detailing turned out.
Excellent ottoman style thumb rings by Garcia Primitives
We hand stitch all of our leather work, but the Witch uses vintage sewing machines for all of our fabric related projects. Older machines were made with all metal gears and they last forever it seems.
The blue one is a 1940's Japanese clone of the Singer 15 and the salmon one is a Kenmore made in 1957 or '58. They both still have their original motors and have the most beautiful, fine stitches.
