🎖️ Life Saving Awards were presented to Pedro Ortega and Arturo Vasquez for resuscitating a drowning victim through bystander CPR.
On September 12, 2024, Pedro Ortega discovered a young child face down in the water near the construction site he was working at. Without hesitation, Ortega rescued the child and performed CPR with the help of Arturo Vasquez, a postal worker who was completing his route nearby. Thanks to their quick thinking and selfless actions, the child was revived and has now fully recovered.
On behalf of the City of La Porte, La Porte EMS, Fire, and Police Departments, we extend our deepest gratitude to these two heroes. Thank you, Pedro and Arturo, for your courage and dedication to helping others. Your actions exemplify the spirit of community and selflessness that we all aspire to embody. Congratulations on receiving the Life Saving Award!
