Tank is pretty confident that he's on track for receiving the Patient of the Week Award!
He would love to have a foster home though.
He's the cuddliest cuddle bear.
Please foster Tank

This ain't no ordinary dog! This is super dog , Tank! Weighing in at over 100lbs and just 2 years old, Tank is the ultimate goofball of the dog world. Even with torn cruciates in both the left and right stifle and a torn right meniscus, Tank never let on about the pain he endured for so long. He still performed his ritual happy dance whenever it was mealtime.
Today is his first day after recover from his bilateral TPLO and he's already doing a fabulous job in his rehab. So super proud of this angel dog.
I can't wait til he's fully recovered and he can live without the awful pain that had to endure for far too long.
Tank will be entertaining applications for his adoption very soon. Don't miss out on this one of a kind SuperDog!

This handsome hunk isn't thrilled to be up so early. He's got a date for a bilateral TPLO this morning.
We're pretty nervous about it but have total faith in his surgeon. He's just such a big boy and we're hoping his recovery will be quick and easy.
We are desperate for a medical foster who can help him recover. Please let me know if you can help.
ALL.DAY.LONG.
Mitch and Twizzle have long forgotten how horrible the street life was for them.
Sweet Doc returned to his foster home late afternoon yesterday. This worn out old street dog wasted no time hoisting himself up on the couch so he could sleep off the rest of the day and recover from his neuter and entropian surgery. His teeth, worn down to his gums, were evaluated and his vet determined there was nothing more that could be done for him in that regard.
Finally, Doc gets to know what it feels like to get good medical care to help make his strong and healthy. Next we address his heartworms and start looking for his forever home.
To apply to adopt Doc, go to Houstonk911rescue.org/adopt.
When you chastise yourself for not securing the kennel correctly then see these two fly right by you and realize that one of them has learned how to open the gate.

They are still looking for foster homes or a ticket out of town to a responsible rescue partner.
My heart broke just a little when I realized what happened.
This morning I walked outside with a broom in hand. Ghost was out visiting with Allen and when his eyes met mine, he ran into his room instead of running up to greet me. Finding it rather strange I followed him and found him in the corner, on his back, belly exposed and he peed just a little.
I gave him cuddles and belly rubs and he relaxed so quickly. It finally dawned on me, it was the broom.
With no broom in sight, he was back to being Ghost. Unfortunately, I didn't have my phone out to record the happy dance he performed when I gave him a yummy treat to put all of this behind us.
Noted: brooms and rainy thunder days are scary for Ghost.

Do we have room? NO
Are there available fosters? NO
Do we want to see a post tomorrow that these babies have either been run over or shot? HELL NO!
In rescue we are always playing dog tetras and trying to make things work with limited space and limited funds.
Please share to help these babies find fosters or forever homes.
Today I am not ok. I can't stop crying about this sweet angel dog who never had a chance at a good life.
But this isn't about me. It is about the puppy who suffered for days upon days. I still don't know if the baby was a male or female. I gave the name, Miel, which is French for Honey.
But she suffered. For days. She was found lying on the ground with maggots pouring out of a wound in the hip area. Xrays show that it could have been a gun pellet. She was a mere baby. She still had growth plates. Yet there she was, alone and suffering from this horrendous wound and she had neurological tics.
She suffered there for at least 2 days before we were made aware of her. When we got the message, there was a well intentioned person pouring water on her. Maybe they thought she had heat stroke but no, it was just adding to her misery.
We asked them to rush to the vet, this is in Mexico and there were no rides coming up to Houston. So she stayed in the hospital in Mexico where she got fluids and food which made her feel better, at least temporarily. A distemper test was taken and while it couldn't be ruled out that quickly, the vet didn't feel it was distemper. We got the word that she was holding her own, so she stayed there until transport was arranged.
This poor angel suffered on an all day transport to get to us. When she arrived she looked terrible, I immediately loaded her into the car to rush her to the emergency hospital. When we got there she was in full on seizure. I think to myself, how many seizures did she suffer on the way up to Houston? She was brought in for examination, her pupils weren't reacting..they progressively gave doses of medicine that are meant to stop seizures and it didn't work. At the highest dose given, the vet said she is clearly suffering and what do we want to do. There was no decision to be made. She didn't need more days of hell. We had to give her peace.
And I am crushed. I think about all of the animals who are dealt these harsh sentences. They are the purest souls, undeserving of the cruel and painful lives and deaths they are forced to go through.
There are lots of great feel good new beginning for so many of these dogs. But they are tethered to the ones that eat away at your heart.
I'm so sorry Miel.
This handsome boy is Wiley and he is ready to find his forever home.

As rescues, we often get praise for the work we do to save lives.
Absolutely non of the life saving work can be done successfully without the financial support of dog loving people like you! You, our donors, are the ones that change the lives of so many amazing dogs.
We need your help once again in a big way.
Brassy is one of the dogs that we pulled from the rescue gone astray situation in Atlanta, TX.
We already lost Lori from cancer and now Brassy has a cancer diagnosis as well.
We feel a lot more hopeful for Brassy but only with the surgery she is about to go into.
Yesterday we had a consult with her surgeon at Blue Pearl Spring and he was able to squeeze her in for surgery today in order to clear the margins from a previous surgery. After that, we will consult with oncology to see what are the next steps.
Brassy is an adorable and happy girl. We owe her a happily ever after. We need your help to cover her surgery which is estimated between $3,500 and $5,000.
We'd also LOVE to find Brassy a foster home for her recovery.

Tank isn't too happy with his new outfit but it's going to help keep him from scratching his stitches.
We have an appointment next week with his oncologist. Poor kiddo just can't catch a break.
Just too adorable not to share! Journey is a Houston K-911 Rescue rescue pup who was owner surrendered because they didn't have time for her. Her foster mom found Journey to be a velcro dog who loved being with her person. Lucky for Journey because foster mom, Angie Mart loved spending time with her!
Now they are life long family and travel buddies.
She is coming around!
We really didn't know if her trip to the vet was going to be met with the decision to humanely euthanize or to try to treat.
Two days later, little Audrey is proving to be the warrior princess we hoped she'd be.
The maggots that were feasting on her wounds are dead and the wounds cleaned. The antibiotics are starting to work. She is eating on her own. The tiks she was experiencing are subsiding. Audrey's blood work is showing that she has ehrlichiosis but we'll get that knocked out in no time.
This little angel is going to leave behind the harsh life in Mexico that was her bleak future, she'll be headed to Houston today or tomorrow and we'd love to find her a foster home to continue her recovery.
Please consider fostering little Audrey and be a part of her recovery.

Puppy has been laying there since THURSDAY!! TWO days! They moved him off the road onto a field. And left. But they left food and water. To a puppy that could barely move. In shock. With his rear lame. He urgently needs a rescue and foster! If he is still alive!

Mitch thought he could fool the nice folks at Cypress Fairhaven Animal Hospital when he said he was there for a job interview. Cute but no. They quickly admitted him and Tripp for their scheduled snip-snips.
Wish the boys well and maybe if you could, toss them a few bones to help pay for their surgeries. Thank you very much!
