Throughout my life, I have been motivated by the impactful work of my late mother, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. Over her 40 years of public service, including 30 years in Congress, she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her constituents and a passion for advocacy that transformed the 18th Congressional District of Texas in the heart of Houston.

As I step forward to serve the unexpired term left by my mother, I recognize the profound responsibility that comes with this role. It’s not just about filling a seat; it’s about honoring a legacy of leadership, empowerment, and community service that she exemplified.

I am determined to continue her vital work, focusing on the issues that matter most to the people of Houston—education, healthcare, economic opportunity, and social justice. I aim to be a voice for the voiceless and uplift those in need, just as she did.

This journey is both a tribute to my mother’s extraordinary life and a commitment to the future of the 18th District. I am ready to carry forward her legacy, ensuring that the values of integrity, compassion, and dedication remain at the forefront of my service.

My brother Jason and I want to express our heartfelt gratitude to President Biden for his unwavering leadership and service to our nation. His dedication during these challenging times has inspired countless Americans, and we are thankful for his commitment to unity and progress.

We are equally proud to stand with Vice President Kamala Harris as she prepares to take the next step in her journey as the next President of the United States. Her strength, intelligence, and compassion embody the values we hold dear, and we believe she is the right leader to continue moving our country forward.

As we reflect on our journey, we can’t help but think of our mother, the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. She dedicated her life to public service, advocating for justice and equality. We know she would be incredibly proud of Kamala and our efforts to honor her legacy. Together, we strive to uphold the principles she fought for and to continue her work in uplifting our communities.
