Yesterday was a great day at BAFTX with hundreds of scholarship applications from smart, driven young Texans with great potential. We will be working hard over the next 3 weeks to select those who best meet our criteria. Hang in there, we'll be in touch! ✨

This year at Wine Women and Song, we crowned another Queen of BAFTX! Thank you to our original beauty queen and benefactor, Rochelle Latkanich for donating and beautifully modeling the stunning crown. And congratulations to our gracious new Queen, Laura Black who won the title by supporting our mission. Long live the Queen!

What would a BAFTX Wine Women and Song event be without The Fab 5? When we raise essential funds for educational equity in Texas, we include live music and lots of fun. Thank you to The Fab 5 for keeping us dancing at this event for many years!

Valeria was selected as a BAFTX Junior Achiever scholar and participated in our UK based British Studies summer program last year. We could not be more proud of her as she heads to Yale this Fall.

Hosted at The Junior League of Houston, Inc. and with The Fab 5 providing live music, there was champagne, raffles, speeches, a Porsche from West Houston and of course fundraising to the tune of $50,000 for educational equity in Texas.

For two years, Spindletop has provided integral funding to the Women in STEM scholarship, an annual scholarship for women pursuing careers in various STEM fields. In 2023, we were proud to have sponsored four young women in STEM, including Reagan Crow, majoring in Biology (pre-med) at the University of Texas at Dallas.

“To be selected for a BAFTX award has been one of the highest honors in my academic journey. This is my second year as one of many of BAFTX’s generous support recipients, and I can speak firsthand about the difference it makes. As a low-income, first-generation female college student on the arduous journey into the male-dominated field of medicine, it means the world to know some inspiring individuals see potential in me and are willing to empower me in my pursuit of excellence and success." - Regan Crow.
