The why of what we do The Arts of Healing

Honored does not even begin to describe how we feel less than a week after our biggest event of the year. Honored that so many friends and colleagues attended our gala in support of our vision. Honored to play a part in enriching the precious lives of the incredible kiddos. And honored to feel the connections being built between physicians, patients and our community as we celebrate the arts and all the healing it can bring! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. 🙏❤️

Honored and excited about our upcoming event , Saturday Nov 4 at The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston. Wait until you see The Sunshine Kids Foundation interpretations of their own chimeras! They are fantastic.
It’s my honor to share the stage with these amazing young artists - who put their heart and soul on the canvas.

Summer art series is back ! This Chimera lesson was so much fun to dream up . Imagination truly rules on this one . We can’t wait to see what the kidsThe Sunshine Kids Foundation come up with .
We are so proud of connecting drs and patients in such a deep and unique way .

Art is so important to the brain , to the soul and to connecting community.
Get ready to fall in love with these kids and their imagination!

We are all about using art as a focal point- not making it an afterthought.

So proud of all the artists who participate in The Arts of Healing. Through this foundation and the efforts of so MANY -
100k was donated directly to The Sunshine Kids Foundation !
BUT that’s not all …
We had some amazing donations in direct work done on our behalf for these kids — including a room makeover , an outdoor putting green , art parties, direct instruction (via you tube ) , fabulous art supplies and so much more .

A moment to cherish sharing the stage with these inspiring young artists of

Dream Hopping Views

Caught somewhere in between
Those dream hopping views.
She caught a glimpse of herself
That she had to refuse.
Third party to the scene -
Adjacent to fate and
Parallel to a script
that was way out of date.
She garnered her pen
And began to revise .
Narrating the course
through obstacles , colors
and her own eyes …
determined to maneuver
herself through the maze .
That’s how she landed
in the glow of her days.



Intersection of Black and White

She lives in the hues of an artist’s palette .

She loves with a dabble of pastels,
and a mix of the most vibrant pigments in every shade ,
and lounges
in the most ambiguous of grays .

Seeing her at the intersection of black and white is unsettling ,
unfamiliar,
uncomfortable.

She’s been commanded to battle by an unrelenting foe.
The rigidness In her body,
the anguish in her movements,
conflict with my memory .

My brush longs to recreate her
to release her -
to dismantle the pain
and bring the glimmer back
to her silent eyes .

Stroke, after stroke ,after stroke.

I reposition her
away from the angles and
away from the sharp edges.
My heart covers hers with prayer,
my hands caress ,
and love her with color.

Eternal in the hues of the artist’s palette .




Dr.Raijman and this young cancer patient have never met . Although they don't know each other personally- their bond is a deep one.
They share realties beyond what any of us hope our hearts and minds would ever have to experience.
Both must remain steadfast and hopeful while continuing their intense and intentional fight for health. Through it all both must wear an armor, build a thick skin and find ways to keep hope . Each needs a place to hold the emotions that are absorbed day to day, and each must also be able to transfer feelings that become too heavy to hold .
Through our platform of art we provide a place for vulnerability fear, sorrow, faith and dreams to coexist on canvas.
The Arts of Healing Foundation is proud to provide this creative bridge between doctors of all specialties and our precious children served by The Sunshine Kids Foundation.
