Last night, Chief DeVaul, Captain Brewer and Mayor Stephens attended the academy graduation of Officer Collin Paul. Officer Paul graduated from the first phase of his training at the Herkimer College Police Academy and was also presented the Herkimer College Police Academy Defensive Tactics Award.

Officer Collin Paul and Officer Hannah Hejni will now be moving on to phase 2 of their training at the Little Falls Police Academy. We are excited to see both officers progress and know that both will be great additions to our community! Great job officers!

Recently, the Ilion Police Department had three officers complete the National Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification course held in Marcy, NY. Sergeant Matthew Mills, Officer William Murnion, and Officer Brett Brewer are now ready to check your child's car seat to ensure a proper fit and proper installation for your child. If you would like to schedule an appointment with a certified technician, please reach out to the Ilion Police Department to schedule a date and time for one of our officers to assist you! Congratulations to a job well done by our officers!

Please see the below post from the Oneida County Sheriff's Office. This is a great event and our officers would be happy to see a great turnout!

Tomorrow, May 11, from 10am-2pm the Sheriff’s Office will be partnering with the New York State Police, Ilion Police Department, AAA Northeast, Village of Whitesboro Police Department, and Yorkville, NY Police Department for a Car Seat Check Point at Maynard Fire Department.

Technicians will be available to assist and teach parents and caregivers how to properly install their Child Seats.

Please bring your unused medication to the Ilion Police Department and drop it off at our drive thru window! Please see the below poster for more information!

Ilion Police officers have been taking advantage of state-of-the-art training located at the Herkimer College Police Academy. The VirTra 300 is a 300-degree simulator where officers are placed into situations simulating real life experiences. These simulations assist officers in improving their de-escalation skills as well as handling high stress situations such as active shooters.

We want thank the Herkimer College Police Academy and the Herkimer County Community College for making this available to local agencies!

Barringer Rd. from W. Main St. to Prospect St. in the uphill lane (South) will be closed to traffic for the next 24 hours or so. The DPW is repairing a catch basin, and the concrete will need time to cure.

All traffic from W. Main St. will have to use Sixth Ave. or Shull St. to access the top of Barringer Rd. until late morning tomorrow.

Road closed signs and cones have been placed for your protection, please do not go around the traffic devices as this may cause an accident or injury to others.
