Last weekend we had the supreme honor of traveling to Kohler Resort with a family we've known for over a decade. This time celebrating the wedding for their 2nd daughter on the 18th Green of the Whistling Straits, home of the 2020 Ryder Cup. The last email has been sent, all my couples are in good shape, and my wedding from last weekend (with our stunning Laura pictured here) is all wrapped up. Now it is time to head to Europe! It is time to make some memories on one last trip before senior year as a family.

I don't know what brought me the most joy Saturday night: Our sweet Hanna & Reilly seeing their incredible ballroom for the first time ( ✨️and wait till you see the photos from this one✨️) or our surprise of the Rogue Pipers bagpipes ensemble for her dad.

This 10 piece band on the steps of Scottish Rite Cathedral was worth keeping alllllll the secrets. 🤐🤐🤐🤐

I've known Mike, their leader, for many years. It's always a treat seeing guests react to their fabulous music.

(I admit, yes, I got emotional when they played "Skyboat Song" 🇨🇮)

This weekend's wedding gave us oodles of photos to share with you in the coming days, but this post of the the "after" speaks to not only the couples we chose to work with, but the professional partnerships too. Today is the day we celebrate the life of Gina Howald. She was an incredible florist with a remarkable talent and vision, but she was an even better lady. Gina was thoughtful and kind. She listened to her couples, she helped her fellow event professionals and Gina was absolutely one of the most family driven women I knew.

Somehow she also had time to create magic (like this) on her weekends. During this particular event, we had only 8 total weeks from engagement to celebration to make our fabulous couple's vision of an all white fantasyland come to life. 🤍 This head table was only a glimpse of what Gina and her team created in their yard. It will forever be an event that is held close to my heart, now moreso than ever. Gina, I miss you and I'm so thankful you were my friend.

So often couples say they want to focus their floral budgets on the reception because the ceremony "is only 20 minutes." NO! NO! NO! It's the reason we're here 💕 - Working with Gina Howald was always a treat because we agreed on this - the ceremony is the most important part of the day, so let's do this thing! Let's make that ceremony shine and make those most important 20 minutes (*and most photographed) 20 minutes of your life look absolutely spectacular.

Here's another example - Gina's lovely florals perfectly scaled so every image of our sweet newlyweds ensured they were surrounded with stunning blooms. 🌸💖

Color and texture. Gina Howald excelled at the use of color and texture in her floral designs. (Me, I love pattern!) Together we'd play and push clients to see how beautiful things could be for their event.

This stunning rehearsal dinner set the tone for a weekend beyond imagination. One long table filled with opulent orchids, gorgeous tableware and flickering candles welcomed the wedding party to an intimate celebration before the next day's nuptials. Meanwhile Gina was back at the couple's home already installing thousands of blooms for the wedding day. It's a wedding weekend I will never forget. 💝

Gina Howald and I collaborated on so many weddings it's hard to put into words what a loss I'm feeling. When my clients selected her, I always knew we were not only going to have a special oasis of floral, but boy were we going to have a helluva good time. I so enjoyed our collaborations. She and I would talk, sketch, chat and push ideas beyond a client's imagination - and I loved working with her. She was an enormous talent and even better woman. There's a piece missing in my heart, and an even greater piece missing in the event industry.

I'm looking forward to sharing some special time with our colleagues and her family on Monday to celebrate Gina's fabulous life.

Over the next several days, I'm going to share a few of her spectacular floral designs we did together. Thank you for sharing these memories with me.
