We all know the saying Time ⏰ is Money 💰. Here are a few tips to help you save time and get your box braids done in under 4 hours…

1. Prep hair before client comes. You can use a hair stand to keep it separated so all you gotta do is grab and braid. This means provide the hair! You know what hair you like to braid with so make it easier on you and the client and just have it ready

2. Parting hair into 6-8 sections rather than no sections or a smaller amount helps you gain control over the hair and actually tricks your brain into thinking you’re getting through the head faster

3. Once you have your sections and you start parting your rows, go ahead and section out each box and secure it using your braiding gel (you don’t need a bunch of clips)

4. Tangling is inevitable no matter how fast or slow you braid. Every few crossovers, gently run your fingers all the way down to the ends to keep the strands separated. If you keep the three strand even in size, you won’t have to marry hair together which also causes tangling

5. Limit breaks to no more than 2 at 5 mins max. If you can get through without taking any, that’s even better. Eat before you start or have light snacks to avoid stopping for long periods of time

6. Stay focused! This is probably the most important. Stay off your phone and give your client your undivided attention. If you’re a talker, then work and talk at the same time. If you can’t do both, just turn some music on and get in your zone.

These are the things that helped me cut my time down from 6 to 7 hours to 4. I use to only do one a day with no other clients but now I can take two box braid clients or 1 with about 3-4 other styles in addition to it.

I hope this helps! ✌🏾
