To prepare for National School Breakfast Week, Irving ISD Food & Nutrition asked our cafeteria teams to create a counter display for advertising using common items from their kitchen (with minimal amounts of craft supplies). The THEME for this year is "DIG INTO SCHOOL BREAKFAST" or "Building a Better Breakfast". Entries must fit on a standard sheet pan, and they could use a minimal amount of food to create the display. All employees would vote on their favorite at our recent department in-service training. The top three teams would get a (in house) catered lunch, and a jean's pass. Plus they would get to display their entry for their students during NSBW!
WOW! Were we really surprised at the fun and creative entries!!!!
Here are are winning entries and several other favorites.

๐ข This school year, Irving Independent School District will transition back to application requirement for free and reduced-price school meals at high schools only.
โผ๏ธ Pre-K through 8th Grade will still receive breakfast and lunch at NO CHARGE.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress authorized spending that allowed schools to serve free meals for all students. Those funds are not authorized to continue for the 2022-2023 school year. As a result, Irving ISD must return to the following processes:
High Schools ONLY:
โก๏ธ Starting on August 1, 2022, Irving ISD will begin distributing letters and applications to the households of High School students about eligibility benefits.
โก๏ธ High school families are encouraged to complete the Application for Free and Reduced-Price School Meals, online at https://schoolcafe.com/IRVINGISD or in person at the Irving I.S.D. School Meals Application Center at 800 N. OโConnor Road, Irving, Texas 75061. (Located: corner of N. OโConnor Rd. & Union Bower) Office hours Monday- Thursday 7:30 AM โ 4:00 PM and Friday 7:30 AM โ 3:30 PM.
Early Childhood, Elementary and Middle Schools ONLY:
The Irving Independent School District will continue to operate the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) for the 2022-2023 school year at Early Childhood, Elementary and Middle Schools. All students at these schools, regardless of their ability to pay, will be eligible to receive a free breakfast and lunch, without need for a meal application.
Breakfast is served at no cost to ALL Irving ISD Students. ๐ฅ
