In order to maintain a high level of accessibility, unitary surface material should be selected as the preferred alternative to loose fill. Unitary shock-absorbing surface makes it easier for wheelchairs and strollers to enter and navigate a playground. It may be made of rubber tiles, mats, turf, or a combination of energy-absorbing materials.

Last month, we celebrated the grand opening of the Jennie Reed Elementary School and Community Playground! 🎉 This amazing transformation was made possible through the incredible collaboration of our key partners: Trust for Public Land, Metro Parks Tacoma, Tacoma Public Schools, Playworld, ID Sculpture, and ForeverLawn Puget Sound. 🌟

The play area includes two playground structures—one for school-age children and the other for kindergarteners. Additionally, there is a swing area and two hill slides that meet near the spinner. A unique feature is the custom jaguar, which is the school mascot, designed by ID Sculpture. 🐆 We are beyond thrilled to see the children and local community enjoying this vibrant new play area! 🎈🌈
