One of my favorites of all time! Fantastic surgeon and an even better human being. I know I speak for so many when I say Dr. Brooks is missed in Mississippi. My wife and I loved running into him at !
If you are considering a Vertebral Body Tethering surgery for scoliosis, you may want to contact us for a second opinion. A recent study from the Pediatric Spine Study Group, an international consortium of pediatric research centers, demonstrated a complete lack of meaningful ”guided growth” after surgery. Considering the risks of the surgical procedure and the high failure rates, I’m always happy to discuss the non-operative and less risky, time-tested operative procedures we offer at Children’s of Mississippi.
WE TAKE BLUE CROSS AGAIN!

Well done!
This was a very special day, and I am honored to be a part of Bentley’s care!
Bentley’s 5th Annual Trail Ride has another successful year Jamie Johnson hosted Bentley’s 5th annual Ride/Auction for the Children’s of Mississippi Hospital.
Just a friendly reminder that visiting me in clinic may be a shorter drive than you think. I have clinic dates planned through the end of 2023 in Tupelo, Canton, Jackson, Hattiesburg and Biloxi. Many thanks to my nurse, and the clinic staff who support us!
A wonderful addition to UMMC
Great crew! Thank you to Josny, Chelsea, Drew and JC for making my day.
We love our clinic in Canton and all of the wonderful people who work there!
Dr. Patrick Wright and his nurse, Nichole Powell, provide surgical and non-surgical solutions for pediatric musculoskeletal conditions, including scoliosis and spine care, hip dysplasia and pelvis conditions, neuromuscular and genetic conditions, deformities of the extremities, and fractures at UMMC at Merit Health Madison.
Fun times!
Happy Easter!
A good reminder to start slow and get into shape before going all out!
As youth sports begin spring practices and those first few games, unnecessary sprains and strains can put a damper on the season even before it starts. That’s because children and adolescents have been inactive for months – especially during the pandemic. They've become unaccustomed to the fatigue that can come with a return to the ballfield. Don't miss how to avoid common youth sports injuries and burnout in the story: https://bit.ly/3uVuNTh
Happy first day of Spring! Be active, be healthy, be safe.
Happy St. Patrick's Day from Children's of Mississippi! 🍀
The fun is just beginning – don't miss the return of Hal's St. Paddy's Parade & Festival on March 26. The main parade, which rolls at 1 p.m., will be led with the city sweep, a band of volunteers who collect donations for the state’s only children’s hospital in exchange for Mardi Gras beads. 🌈
Happy to be here today!
Tomorrow Children's of Mississippi - Tupelo will be celebrating 7 years! On Jan. 21, 2015, the ribbon was cut on the specialty clinic. 💕 This clinic is a joint effort between UMMC and the North Mississippi Health Services and brings specialists to an area of our state that had limited access to these services. Cutting the ribbon were physicians in the community, patients and their families and hospital leadership who worked to make the clinic possible. 🎉
This time of year at the Children’s Hospital is exciting. Thank you to everyone making it special for the kids!
Children's of Mississippi received some very special visitors on Dec. 21 when Gov. Tate Reeves and his family dropped by, along with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Pictured from left are Emma Reeves, Gov. Reeves, Santa, Maddie Reeves, Mrs. Claus, Tyler Reeves and Elee Reeves.
How time flies! This has been my surgical home for over a year and I’m looking forward to many more to come. It has been a wonderful place to provide state of the art care for our children.
The Kathy and Joe Sanderson Tower at Children’s of Mississippi won an award of merit in the Engineering News-Record's roundup of best projects of the year. 🎉
The construction manager at-risk delivery method allowed contractor Brasfield & Gorrie to get involved early in the design of the hospital tower, ENR noted. The merit award noted how the project team employed a multiple-phase process to close the road and keep hospital access open while constructing a new entry road. During the project, extensive coordination with vendors helped the contractor ensure the proper installation of MRI machines and other major medical equipment.
The lead design firm of the hospital was HDR Architecture. 💕

Fun times at the University Pavilion today.
I may be a day late to but that doesn’t make this service dog’s visit to Sanderson Tower any less special! And to make it even better, I was able to snap a group photo with Queena, Brittney, Leneshia, and the adorable pup before heading into clinic. Happy Friday!

Thank you Children’s of MS!
New resource available on our website - a listing of no-dose and low-dose radiation scoliosis screening locations in the United States. For children who require frequent imaging to monitor progress of scoliosis, multiple doses of radiation from standard X-rays results in an increase in their life-long radiation exposure. Increased radiation for scoliosis patients has been shown to increase the risk of developing cancer later in life, especially endometrial and breast cancer. Radiation-free or low-radiation imaging is therefore often recommended. Visit http://childrensscoliosisfoundation.org and visit our imaging page for more information.
Thank you to EOS imaging and Fonar Corporation for all of your help compiling the list, and hats off to Scoliosis Care Centers for having the only zero-radiation upright MRI scoliosis imaging facility that we could find!
I often tell my patients that their activity and life should return to normal in just months after scoliosis surgery. Posts like this from the SRS make me happy.
We are so fortunate to have Dr. Zimmerman in our department. Her results are some of the best I have ever seen, and I can’t imagine what we would do without her.
Highlighting Suite C and Maribelle at the University Pavilion where we have EOS imaging for spine and leg deformity assessments. It is calibrated 3D imaging with very low radiation, and the only one in Mississippi. Check out www.eos-imaging.com for more information.
Ready to start an exciting day at Children’s Coast Clinic with Beth! So nice to have in-office imaging for patient convenience and quality care.
