Our HR Manager, Samantha Smith Boone, represented JMAA well during her recent attendance at the 2024 SHRM Conference!

Along with a few photos she shared, here are a few key trends Samantha identified that are expected to shape the future of HR:

🔹 Remote Work Evolving: Remote work policies should be reassessed to strike a balance between flexibility and productivity while also prioritizing employee well-being.

🔹 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Organizations should emphasize diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to foster more inclusive workplaces and address systemic inequalities across the board.

🔹 Human+ AI: The HR landscape will experience increased integration of AI and automation in processes like recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.

🔹 Civility at Work: Promoting civility in the workplace is anticipated to become a priority to enhance employee engagement and productivity. A positive workplace environment is where employees feel valued, safe, and motivated to work for the company.

In conclusion, as Al Roker highlighted during the conference, "Don’t look for what you want, but rather follow the opportunities."

From Land and Water to Air: Congratulations and Welcome, Chief Trevell Dixon! 🚓✈️

Chief Dixon, with 15 years of total experience, including 11 years at the Reservoir Police Department and four years with the Jackson State University Police Department, was sworn in as the new JMAA Chief of Police by CEO Beckett during the June JMAA Board of Commissioners meeting. Chief Dixon, a proud graduate of Faulkner University and the FBI National Academy, was recently elected to the Central Executive Board of the Mississippi Chiefs Association.

The room was filled with support from officers from numerous jurisdictions for the swearing-in ceremony. We are excited to welcome Chief Dixon and look forward to his continued success at JMAA.

Today, we observe Juneteenth, a day that symbolizes freedom and the endless sky of possibilities. Just as aviation connects us to new horizons, Juneteenth reminds us of the journey toward equality and the importance of soaring higher for justice. ✈️🖤

Day 4 at Jackson State University has been incredible for our JET-A students! Today, they dove into the importance of communication and team building through engaging STEM projects led by the JSU ROTC team.

Not only did they learn valuable skills, but today also marked the beginning of group presentations, where they showcased what they've learned throughout the week. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to explore the world of aviation have been truly inspiring and hopeful for the future.

Day 3 at JET-A really took off! Our students had an amazing time at Hinds Community College Aviation, where they learned about the various types of drones and their capabilities, discovering how drones are enhancing our way of life. They toured John Bell Williams (Raymond) Airport, explored the maintenance lab and pilot training facility, and enjoyed thrilling drone displays and demonstrations.

Students also had the opportunity to view vintage aircraft and visit the Mississippi Highway Patrol hangar. We're so proud to share these incredible experiences with our future aviation leaders! ✈️🚁

Today, JET-A students took a moment to honor the life and legacy of Medgar Evers on the anniversary of his death. Holding up his photo, they reflected on his incredible contributions to the Civil Rights Movement before beginning their activities.
