Modifying Designs to Fit Customers Parts This impact machine was initially designed as a pedestal to set two rivets, one at a time. After discussing the rivet placing, we determined that our fixed-center riveting option would be ideal for speeding up cycle time. This design option sets two rivets simultaneously on very close centers. Upon more discussions around the part, we determined that having two Model 57 wedge heads set at 45º was more effective so that the very long parts would slide between them. This video shows us forming sample parts, not to scale, to prove riveting capability. Set Two Rivets with One Hit! Orbitform’s fixed center riveters are compact machines designed to set two rivets simultaneously on very close centers. The minimum distance is dependent on the size of the rivet heads. Maximum rivet spacing is up to four inches. This will significantly reduce production time when joining two or more pieces.
