Time and time again politicians wanting to be “tough on crime” and score points for votes by taking away discretion and independent review from hard-working judges that work in the trenches to the detriment of the rights of the accused. This law, and many like it, will continue to stack the deck in favor of prosecutors in an attempt to “fix” problems that simply don’t exist or not nearly to the extent Desantis claims. It’s the “activist judges” boogeyman again.
