Thank you for checking out our review of this 2019 Rossiter R23 Classic Day Boat. If you are looking for an elegant, classic, sports boat for the family to enjoy, but don’t want to spend all your spare time and money on maintenance, then you can't go wrong with this one! The Rossiter R23 was designed with the 60’s and 70’s speedboats in mind, but with modern fiberglass and easy clean flooring and seating. As a result, you have a boat that looks the part in any marina, without fearing the upkeep along the way! The 200hp 4 stroke Yamaha outboard had less than 100 hours on the clock, with a fuel capacity of 70 gallons. The boat seated 10 in comfort and even had a small cabin in the bow that could sleep 2 if required. This 2007 Norseman 480 has a great way of making you feel like you are on a much larger, more expensive boat. It is more of a semi-custom yacht, than a mass-produced boat, so more attention to detail has been received from bow to stern. For example, how many boats of this size in your local marina have varnished caprails, pop up cleats on the bathing platform for securing your tender to, bow and stern thrusters, uprated chrome detailing surrounding the windows, a pantograph watertight door, and over 1,000hp!! As a trawler, this yacht will cruise all day at 8, 10, 12 knots etc. However, when you want that burst of speed for fast cruising, she will actually punch through the 20-knot barrier! I was extremely impressed with this boat for how capable it is for its size, but how comfortable it is in terms of accommodation as well. The aft cockpit has plenty of rod holders, bait stations, fish boxes, bait tanks, and much more to keep you content fishing for hours on end. The main helm area is fully air conditioned, with state-of-the-art electronics and very comfortable seating for family and friends. Finally, we step down into the accommodation and you find 4 berths, a well-equipped galley, TV, entertainment system, large heads compartment, and much more. You could easily disappear for a weekend on this boat either inshore or offshore! This boat is maintained to an unbelievably high standard, and you see that as you walk up and notice all the woodwork is undercover when not in use to avoid the Florida sun burning or bleaching it! Upgrades in recent years include new electronics, new house batteries, new bow/stern thruster batteries, hull professionally repainted, all engine hoses replaced, engine mounts replaced, air conditioning units serviced, and so much more. This is one lovingly maintained blue water cruiser that is ready to take on the Great Loop! The yacht is powered by a single Cummins 6CTA 8.3M3 diesel engine producing approximately 450hp and gives a cruising speed of around 8 – 10 knots. However, when you need to dodge a storm or make that next bridge opening, this boat can be powered up to hit the high teens!! For maneuverability, the yacht is equipped with both bow and stern thrusters, accessible on both helm stations. This is a fantastic boat that would be perfect for those looking to complete the Great Loop, and when you circle back to Florida, turn right and head on over the Atlantic for the Med Loop! It is hard to believe that at 41ft in length, this boat offers not only the fuel range for crossing the pond, but the sea keeping qualities that go with it as well. The boat could easily be handled by a husband-and-wife team, and the deck access from the helm helps make it possible for easy single-handed berthing when needed as well. I also like the fact that this boat is powered by twin diesels and not a single diesel. It is always a personal preference, but I would rather have twins for improved maneuverability and also improved reliability where you basically have a spare engine to get you home if something goes wrong. While I had seen them before in magazines and on the internet etc, this was the first time I was actually onboard one in person. It is hard to believe this boat is only 30ft, as it offers so many innovative and quality designs, for such a small package. Boarding is easy from both sides thanks to the extended bathing platform, but starboard side also has door way access. The transom opens up to be a large open cockpit and since the saloon table is not fixed, you can bring it outside for serving food and drinks etc. Inside, I loved how much natural light there was coming through from those windows! There are also a ton of opening windows and hatches to let in fresh air whenever you want. This would be a perfect boat for someone looking for single handed sailing, as the lower helm leads right out to the deck, with that door way access for disembarking. You have a powerful single diesel, and powerful bow thruster to help keep the boat in check.
