For the first time in 5 years, opioid overdose deaths in the U.S. have declined 05/28/2024

ICYMI: Dr. Christine Cauffield was recently featured in a news segment discussing a groundbreaking development in public health. For the first time in five years, CDC records show a decline in opioid overdose deaths in the United States. This is a significant milestone in the ongoing battle against the opioid crisis.

Dr. Cauffield attributed this decline to improved access to addiction medication like NARCAN and increased investment in resources from the State and Federal government. Watch the segment below. โคต๏ธ

For the first time in 5 years, opioid overdose deaths in the U.S. have declined Florida saw a nearly 8.5% decrease in reported overdose deaths from 2022-2023. Georgia reported a 7.9% decrease. Both higher than national average of 5.1%.
