St Aedan’s Roman Catholic Church is delighted to invite everyone to join on a special pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC on October 5, 2024, a Saturday. The pilgrimage to the Basilica is an opportunity to come home to Mother Mary’s house and a chance to deepen our faith, seek spiritual renewal, and experience the unity of the church. MEET FR. ASIEL, OUR NEW PASTOR

Fr. Asiel Rodriguez was born in Cuba, but grew up in Union City (Hudson County). After high school, he spent 6 years in Madrid studying Philosophy and Psychology, where he earned a dual degree from the Pontifical University of Salamanca.

As a Benedictine monk, he came back to New Jersey, where he lived and taught at St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark. There he was a teacher and administrator for 6 years. He was ordained a priest in 2020.

In the past year, he was assigned to Holy Rosary St. Michael’s in Elizabeth as a parochial vicar, where he created new projects for the Spanish apostolate, solidified the liturgical and pastoral life of the parish, and created the joint retreats for all youth groups in the city of Elizabeth.

Fr. Asiel enjoys working with the youth and spending time with parishioners as well as celebrating the sacraments. He likes to be involved in parishioners’ lives, and takes his role as father and shepherd seriously.

Fr. Asiel becomes our Pastor at St. Aedan's Church on July 1st. Let us welcome him to the parish and give him our support!

CONOCE AL P. ASIEL, NUESTRO NUEVO PASTOR

El Padre Asiel Rodríguez nació en Cuba, pero creció en Union City (Hudson County). Después del bachillerato, 6 anos en Madrid estudiando Filosofía y Psicología, donde obtuvo la doble titulación por la Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca.

Es sacerdote benedictino, y regreso a New Jersey, donde vivió y enseno en St. Benedict’s Prep en Newark. Allí fue docente y administrador durante 6 años. Fue ordenado sacerdote en 2020.

El ano pasado, fue asignado a Holy Rosary St. Michael’s en Elizabeth como vicario parroquial, donde creo nuevos proyectos para el apostolado en español, solidificó la vida litúrgica y pastoral de la parroquia y creo retiros conjuntos para todos los grupos de jóvenes en las diez parroquias de la cuidad de Elizabeth.

Le gusta trabajar con los jóvenes y pasar tiempo con los feligreses, además de celebrar los sacramentos y disfrutar su sacerdocio al máximo. Le gusta participar en la vida de los feligreses y se toma en serio su papel de padre y pastor.

P. Asiel se convierte en nuestro pastor en la iglesia de St. Aedan el 1 de julio. ¡Démosle la bienvenida a la parroquia y brindémosle nuestro apoyo!

The Bereavement Ministry of St. Aedan's offers support to those grieving the death of a loved one, through five weekly sessions of sharing and compassion starting January 30th. See the attached flyer for details.

FREE CONCERTS OF FILIPINO MUSIC ON FEBRUARY 7th

All are invited to TWO free concerts of Filipino music, titled "Songs My Country Taught Me: Music from the Philippines", featuring baritone and former University Director of Music Joseph Legaspi, accompanied on piano by current University Director of Music Joseph Hill.

Both concerts will be on Wednesday, February 7th. The first will be at 12 PM at Saint Peter Chapel (inside Saint Peter Hall, at the corner of John F. Kennedy Blvd. and Glenwood Ave.), and the second will be at 7:30 PM at St. Aedan's: the Saint Peter's University Church. These are free of charge and open to the public, so bring your family and friends and spread the word.

These concerts are part of the Arts on Bergen concert series, and supported by public funds from the Jersey City Arts and Culture Trust Fund.
