What a successful car wash we had yesterday! About 75 workers washed 113 cars, and donations came in amounting to $4606. This is definitely a record!! What a great team we have! And such generous friends! THANK YOU TO ALL THE WORKERS AND EVERYONE WHO DONATED! If you would like to add to this amount so we can reach $6000, you can do that here: https://www.heartshawaii.org/support-us

We started rehearsals for HONK! last week. This is a favorite early video we took of a few people learning to sing in harmony, most of whom have never sung in harmony before (including Will Campbell, Director). Teryn Myers is our conductor. Be sure to listen to the last note played by the pianist--me. 😂 Don't miss HONK! at Palikū Theatre, August 3-5. It is going to be amazing!!! Tickets: www.heartshawaii.org

Come audition for HEARTS' summer production of HONK! at Palikū Theatre. Auditions tonight at 6PM at the Kailua Nazarene Church. Will Campbell (Director), Ku‘ulei Kekoa (Assistant Director), Keisha Padello (Choreographer), Teryn Myers (Asst. Musical Director) www.heartshawaii.org

On Saturday the Keiki Choir (grades 3-7) sang at Kawaiaha‘o Church with 150 other children from our island as part of HYOC's Na Leo Pili Mai Choir Festival. In continued support of Ukraine, the mass choir sang Chervona Kalyna, a Ukrainian nationalistic song about a red flower that represents freedom and that was forbidden when Ukraine was under Communist rule. This song now inspires Ukrainians in their freedom efforts. Tymofii, a 5th grade refugee from Ukraine who sings in HEARTS‘ Keiki Choir, was introduced to the audience and recognized for how he helped us learn to pronounce his own language. Please pray for Tymofii, his mom and his little sister here in Hawai‘i and for his dad in Ukraine. Oh, in the meadow a red kalyna has bent down low, For some reason, our glorious Ukraine is in sorrow. And we'll take that red kalyna and we will raise it up, And, hey-hey, we shall cheer up our glorious Ukraine!

Some music is worth remembering, especially when it's sung by Sisi and Micah, outstanding HEARTS alumni. I miss them. "At Last I See the Light."

Our hula singers/dancers are getting spoiled with live music today!

Our musical theater trope learned some fancy handwork! Do you think you could keep up?!

It’s us! We are the ones keeping hot crossed buns alive! 😂 Aren’t they adorable?

Two weeks until our annual car wash fundraiser! It’s going to be a lot of fun, you get to support an amazing organization, and you get a clean car! I think that’s called a win-win-win! 😉

September means the start of GiveAloha! This is a great way to donate to help Hearts never have to turn a child away. We believe that every child deserves an arts education. Through your donations, we are able to provide excellent singing, musical theatre, and hula programs for youth from birth through high school.

Our new classes this fall are so beneficial for our keiki! As parents we are always looking to set our children up for a successful future, and these classes can be instrumental in preparing your children for speech and reading! Check out our website for more information and to pre-register! https://www.heartshawaii.org/baby-toddler-preschool

In 2016 a few younger boys had their first rehearsal with the HEARTS Men's Barbershop Ensemble under the direction of Bryce-William Irvine. The youngest of these boys, Josiah Mendoza, will celebrate his high school graduation tonight. This group sang "Shut De Door, Keep Out the Devil" in Nagaoka and Tokyo. Cherished memories. Bryce is looking for a few good men to keep the tradition going in the fall. www.heartshawaii.org

Jusitin Ka‘upu's arrangement of "Until We Meet Again," a medley of Queen Lili‘uokalani's well-known "Aloha ‘Oe and "Queen's Jubilee" that honors Queen Victoria's 50th year of reign. Featuring HEARTS' choirs and alumni as the finale of our 20th Anniversary Spring Concert at Hawai‘i Theatre. Conducted by Bryce-William Irvine. Joanne Watanabe, accompanist. Videography by Warren Kawamoto, Sound by Kyle Furusho. May 7, 2022
