We live in a world of convenience. We want everything to be fast, easy, and require as little effort on our part as possible. But changing your life is going to require 2 things…TIME and EFFORT. It takes consistent effort to learn a new skill….consistent effort to lose body fat…consistent effort to improve relationships. Whatever it is you are working towards, DON’T QUIT TODAY. And if you’ve already “fallen off the wagon,” don’t set it on fire…get your butt up and get that wagon moving again. You CAN do this. You CAN change your life. Give it time and effort.

What does one do when it’s 21 degrees outside? You find like-minded people and go camping of course and then hike in the dark for a beautiful sunrise. Fantastic weekend to enjoy the outdoors. We grow while in uncomfortable places. Go there with intentionality, joy and expectations. We Survived, but more importantly, We Thrived!!!

It takes a lot of courage to change your life, but it 100% CAN be done! It’s Day 4 of the year…keep working towards those goals. Don’t quit today.

Many people are starting 2022 by making yet another set of resolutions.
But unless we set a goal, make a plan, and work that plan...these resolutions are really nothing more than wishful thinking.

So let's talk about Goal Setting for a moment. Whatever your goal is - make it specific. "I'm going to lose weight"
How much weight? If you lose 1 lb, technically, that's means you're done! But I doubt that is quite what you mean...so be specific in what you want to accomplish.

Also make sure the goal is measurable.
Again using that "lose weight" example - are we measuring body weight? Body fat? Inches?

Is your goal attainable? Looking exactly like your favorite movie star is likely NOT going to happen. You may have completely different body types, food preferences, fitness interests, and free time available. But becoming a healthier version of you IS attainable. It just may not look like that movie star.

Is your goal relevant? Meaning is this goal really worth-while to you? Do not choose a goal just because everyone else thinks it is important. Instead consider if this is really important for your happiness and well-being.

Finally, where is the finish line? If you give yourself 3 months to clean your house, it will take you 3 months. If you give yourself 3 hours, it will take you 3 hours. So choose a realistic end date for these goals (and again - make sure this date is attainable too).

Who's tired of leftover turkey sandwiches? 🙋‍♀️

If your taste-buds just screamed out "ME!" here's a suggestion...let's turn that boring Turkey into Turkey Cheese enchiladas! I kept mine pretty basic - cheese, turkey, picante and home-made enchilada sauce wrapped up in a tortilla. But feel free to add in corn, beans, onions, or avocado! As usual, the goal is to create something you ENJOY eating that meets your personal nutritional goals!

Once you've filled those tortillas, lay them in a pan and cover with the remaining enchilada sauce.

Bake, covered (so it doesn't dry out) for 20 minutes in a 450 degree oven. The end result is a spicy, protein packed meal that tastes NOTHING like leftovers.

Q: What is the best meal plan?

A: The one you can stick to!

Nutritional goals are unique - based upon your current body composition, your personal goals, and how your body reacts to the food you give it. Food isn’t inherently good or bad - it’s just fuel. The trick is to figure out how much and what type of fuel your body needs to reach your goals!

Now the other factor in being successful…is what do you ENJOY eating? If you hate what you are eating, you are NOT going to stick to the plan long term. We want to make sustainable changes to our eating habits that taste good and give us the energy needed to be successful! We know you can do it…and if you need help, just reach out!

At some point in life, we all have experiences requiring us to buckle down and survive. And according to , surviving doesn't sound like a bad thing. But is surviving good enough? Is that what you want to spend the rest of your life doing?
Simply surviving?

Now let's compare this to thriving - growing vigorously, gaining in wealth/possessions, and progressing toward a goal....despite the circumstances. That sounds GREAT, but that last bit?... doesn't make it sound easy.

Thriving takes commitment. It takes doing the work on days when it's fun and easy...and on days it's hard. Or boring. Or repetitive. The choice of which you're going to do - survive or thrive - is ultimately up to you. YOU have to make that choice and do the work.

So which are you going to do today? Survive? Or Thrive?
