Our district recently hosted Dr. David Pittman, director of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) and Dr. George Calfas, the ERDC's operational and division chief.
The leaders visited the Technology Management Office, Rathbun Lake, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Kansas River. Their trip focused on surveying efforts in our district. Here is an example:
During a demo, Dr. Pittman asked our Jobsite Assisted Quality Intelligence chatbot for information fragmented throughout various sources. Trained on over 10,000 documents, JAQI quickly responded...using Dr. Pittman's own writings from over a decade ago! See pictures for his reaction.

Ever wonder why KC’s BBQ is this good? Feral Hogs is NOT it! 🐗
Feral Hogs damage and destroy habitats and ecosystems, compete with native wildlife, are vectors of disease and a risk to the public and property.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and The Corps Foundation were honored to present the Natural Resource Management Excellence in Partnerships Award to the Missouri Feral Hog Elimination Partnership, Tuesday, June 11 at the Missouri Dept. of Conservation Headquarters in Jefferson City, Missouri.
The Excellence in Partnerships Award is given annually to recognize a partner’s outstanding contributions towards Natural Resource Programs. Missouri Feral Hog Elimination Partnership was chosen from a pool of about 4,000 active partners across the nation.
Now, this and all our are worth celebrating – over some BBQ – the normal type, not feral. 🎉

Life isn't a sitcom, so here in the Kansas City District, and in all the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, we observe every day! Continue our culture of safety and remember:
• Always operate the vehicle according to the manufacturer’s instructions
• Always wear a seatbelt when the forklift has one.
• Have clear visibility of the work area and ensure you have enough clearance when raising, loading and operating a forklift.
• Never exceed the rated load and ensure it is stable and balanced.
• Don’t give rides or use the forklift to lift people.
Following proper forklift safety protocols not only ensures the delivery of quality projects – it saves lives!
