Videos by Reconciliation Services in Kansas City. Seeking racial and economic reconciliation one heart at a time through healthy community initiatives
This past weekend, on the feast of St. Maria of Paris (July 20th), RS proudly reopened its doors and welcomed some very special visitors for a blessing of our brand-new five-story building!
His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel of Chicago, Diocese of the Midwest, presided over the first Divine Liturgy in our newly established St. Maria of Paris Chapel. The event was graced by the presence of local Orthodox Christian clergy and families, who joined us in the celebration and the Grand Reopening ceremony on Monday, July 22nd.
RS was founded on the core values of Dignity, Community, and Advocacy, deeply rooted in the Orthodox Christian faith and our connection to the local church community. Our mission is driven by the profound call to “love one another — so long as it is love to the end, and without exceptions,” as inspired by St. Maria of Paris.
We are incredibly grateful for the support and the tremendous grace we experienced during our Grand Reopening. As we embark on this new chapter, we look forward to continuing our work with renewed passion and commitment. Thank you to everyone who made this momentous occasion possible!

Happy #Juneteenth! We spoke to some of our managers — Shaleese, Ashley, Alexis, and Natasha — about what Juneteenth means to them and their families, and how that relates to their work at RS and Thelma’s Kitchen. We sure do love what they had to say!
It’s happening! 📦🚚📦 We‘re nearly finished packing up our temporary space, and will begin transferring our things over to the new building in just a few days! Shoutout to our hard working crew for all their lifting and loading 💪
We had a blast at @creativeculturediy on Friday for our all-staff outing! When you work as hard as we do, it’s important to take the time to relax, play, and enjoy each other! Thanks to Creative Culture for having us, and for your insanely good milkshakes 😋🥤
End of Year 2023
Thank you for your generosity this year! You've helped level the playing field and restored hope for neighbors struggling against loss, trauma, isolation, and housing instability. There's still time to make a difference in 2023! Thelma's Kitchen
Caring for her neighbors and sharing what she had came naturally to Thelma. Even when she only had a little, she would offer what she could. Love of neighbor was what drove Thelma “Matushka (mama) Michaila” and her husband Father Alexii Altschul to begin their outreach work and acts of mercy along Troost over 30 years ago. It began simply with feeding their neighbors who were hungry. Today, the work of Reconciliation Services consists of an intentional continuum of care, working to see reconciliation one heart at a time through strengths-based healthy community initiatives, social & mental health services, and creating economic opportunities. This Mother’s Day, we want to honor Thelma, the Mother of Reconciliation Services, and Thelma's Kitchen, which bears her name!
If you are inspired by Thelma's selfless LOVE, we hope you will be INSPIRED TO GIVE in honor of a special mother in your life. Give today at https://donorbox.org/2023-mothers-day-campaign

Kendra
We've known Kendra for a long time, but how she came to find healing at RS still inspires us. As we approach Mother’s Day this year, we want to reflect on the Mothers who are part of our story here at Reconciliation Services.
If you are inspired by Kendra's resilience, we hope you will be INSPIRED TO GIVE in honor of a special mother in your life. Give today at https://donorbox.org/2023-mothers-day-campaign
5th Floor
📷 by @frjustinmathews: The new 5th floor at @reconciliationservices is really coming together! Eventually, it will house the "Mother Maria of Paris" Chapel, a staff collaborative space, the outdoor "therapy garden", my office, and other offices. I can't wait! Thank you to all of our donors who have supported this project! You can see the impact of RS at RS3101.org.
