- - LOW BACK PAIN - - Everyone meet Christy! When I first met Christy she sat straight up and down in her chair, refused to bend at the waist, and was ready to give up all physical activity due to excruciating low back pain. She had tried everything prior to making an appointment with us – rest, injections, nerve ablations…zero relief. Does this sound like someone who would be able to load a barbell and start reppin’ out deadlift complexes? Well guess what – same person! 💪🏼 pretty bad ass huh? I now get to see Christy once a month to work on her weak areas, keep her on track physically (sometimes emotionally 😉), and of greater importance check in on my friend. I can honestly say I could have never imagined Empowered Physical Therapy to be providing care such as this. - - BACK REHAB - - Coming back from injury is never easy and Malcolm will be the first to tell you that…although that would require him to speak (underlying teenage boy joke there). He has been working hard to get back on to the football field after being diagnosed with lumbar spondylolysis earlier this year. Loading has been gradual and as with everything his emphasis is on proper form specifically maintaining a neutral spine. The landmine is an excellent tool as it allows him to work through his squat and press patterns without having to excessively load his spine. We are using the bench as a biofeedback mechanism to give him the external cue he requires to avoid detrimental positions.
