⚽ 💙 We’re helping return a fierce competitor to the soccer field. ⚽ 💙 Annabelle is a college freshman who committed to play for Truman State University before being diagnosed with localized Ewing sarcoma, a bone/soft tissue cancer, her senior year of high school.
“Sports have taught me a lot about resilience and optimism and courage,” said Annabelle. “I’ve taken that with me into this new fight with cancer.”
Her team at Children’s Mercy formed an aggressive plan including chemotherapy and radiation with the goal of minimizing treatment complications.
It was a success! The tumor has been completely removed, and Annabelle is now looking forward to playing soccer again soon!

The rain didn’t stop us from dreaming BIG this past weekend! 🌈🌧 Over 90 teams joined Dream Big Day to rally around Children’s Mercy, raising over $338,000 and counting, to help provide hope and healing to patients and their families. Your generosity turns dreams into reality… and we couldn’t be more grateful! Thank you for creating healthier futures. 💖
If caring for kids and their families was an #Olympic event, our team members would take home a gold medal every day! 🥇 Now, when it comes to attempting a #gymnastics salute… we think they’re pretty podium-worthy, too 😂
What’s camp week without a sliming?! Norah, Rosilyn, Shaylie and other patients had way too much fun at today’s camp activity — watching our team members, Shelbi, a music therapist and Nick, a medical interpreter along with special guest, @sportingkc forward Johnny Russell get doused in green goo 🤪 Most of us would do just about anything to see these kids smile, and slime sure does the trick! 💚
It’s an honor to be one of the 10 children’s hospital hub sites for the Regional Pediatric Pandemic Network (PPN), a program federally funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). As part of this, we recently hosted a team of government officials and pediatric preparedness experts from across the country. Here, they got to see firsthand how our team members prepare for the future and ensure all children will receive equitable access to health care during disasters, pandemics and emergencies. Thank you to PPN, HRSA, and Altarum for the time spent with us. We hope your look into some of the collaboration, education and preparation was inspiring!

Children's Mercy Inpatient Prom 2024
It’s a teenage rite of passage… the prom, and for Children’s Mercy patients there’s no exception. 🕺 💃
Last Friday night, for the first time since 2019, we were able to bring the magic of prom night to kids who are hospitalized or unable to attend their school’s event during this special season. 💐 With a red carpet entrance, Kendra Scott Color Bar, food, games, dancing and even amazing Sporting Kansas City players, Stephen Afrifa, Danny Flores and Zorhan Bassong, in attendance - teens got a prom full of City Lights and #KC Nights! 🤩
Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening so special with donated dress clothes, accessories, hair/makeup services, music, food and swag bags for our prom attendees: The Victory Project and Sporting KC, Kendra Scott, DJ Smiley, The Walker Foundation, Men's Wearhouse, @InterStateStudio, Good Cheer, Children’s Mercy Staff, Children’s Mercy Volunteers and and all of the community supporters and donors.
It was truly a night to remember! ✨
Laughter is the best medicine
If laughter is the best medicine, we’ve got the perfect dose for you! Sound on 🔊 for these joy-filled kids who shared their giggles with us. 😂
Whether our #FacilityDogs are motivating a patient to walk after a procedure, comforting them in their hospital bed, or even helping our team members decompress from a stressful shift, they offer a special approach to healing – unconditional love. 🥰🐾🐕🦺

Children's Mercy Kansas City: Illuminate
One in five young people in the U.S. have a mental health disorder, and in Kansas City over 40 percent of those kids don’t get the help they need. That’s why Children’s Mercy launched Illuminate, a 5-year, $275 million dollar plan, to address this youth mental health crisis through early intervention, equitable access, expanded services and research. We need your help.
