I am tentatively starting back to school 9/17/24 to further my education in the beauty industry! I will keep my current clients and will take new facial, waxing, massage, spray tan, lash lift and tint, and brow clients. My hours starting 9/17:
Monday: 8am-7pm
Saturday: 9am-3pm
Sunday: 10am-2pm
If these hours do not work for you I can do an evening appointment Tuesday-Friday.

🌱Selenium is a trace element and potent antioxidant. This is another mineral that is deficient in acne suffers. Its main role is to help recycle other antioxidants, specifically glutathione, alpha lipoic acid, vitamin C and E. Selenium is also involved in thyroid function. The enzyme that converts the thyroid hormone into its active form needs selenium. Low thyroid function can be an acne trigger in some people!

🌱Chromium is most important for its potent effects on regulation blood sugar, it helps prevent insulin resistance, which is common in people who suffer from acne. Blood sugar imbalance leads to hormone imbalance, excess sebum production, and inflammation. Acne is often referred to as “diabetes of the skin”

🌱Niacinamide is also known as vitamin B3. It is anti-inflammatory, improves skin barrier, shrinks the follicles, and reduces the risk of skin cancer by decreasing inflammation. It is a crucial nutrient that interacts with 400 enzymes in order to catalyze various reactions in the body. It synthesizes fatty acids and cholesterol. It is critical in maintaining cellular antioxidant function.

🌱Biotin is widely known for helping with hair, skin and nail. It helps regulate sebum production and is known for its ability to promote the growth of skin cells. It is important to obtain a healthy level of biotin as a high level biotin can have the opposite effect, causing break outs.

Vitamin deficiency “part 2” 🖤

If you have not had a chance to read Part 1, take a minute and look at our previous post!

🌱Vitamin B6 causes more uptake of and sensitivity to testosterone and impairs conversion of ALA to EPA and DHA. Women who notice breakouts in correlation with their menstrual cycle are often deficient in this nutrient. Always check with your practitioner for the appropriate dose to take. On your own you can start with foods high in B6 and other B vitamins.

🌱Vitamin D is a major hormone that is responsible for a variety of critical functions in your body. No wonder vitamin D gets a lot of attention in the medical field! Vitamin D has been shown to increase production of antimicrobial proteins that kill acne-causing bacteria in skin pores. It’s worth noting that acne often becomes worse during the winter months due to lack of sun exposure.

🌱Vitamin E is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Antioxidants protect cells from the negative effects of free radicals by inhibiting lipid peroxidation. Also, vitamin E is most abundant in sebum it prevents lipid peroxidation in skin pores and the inflammation that leads to acne.

Let’s take a dive into an holistic approach to acne!

🌱 There are 3 groups of essential fatty acids. Omega 3, 6, & 9 in proper balance help maintain our cell membrane. In the standard America diet, there is usually an excess of omega-6 which promotes inflammation. In contrast omega-3 is an anti-inflammatory. Having a balanced ratio of arachidonic acid to eicosapentaenoic acid helps keep the sebum produced in our sebaceous glands from becoming too thick and sticky.

🌱 Zinc is needed for catalytic activity of approximately 100 enzymes. Enzymes jumpstart specific biochemical reactions. Zinc is a common culprit of hormonal acne!

🌱 Vitamin A works by regulating prostaglandins that control sebum production in the skin. Most of you have heard of accutane. Accutane (isotretinoin) is a synthetic form of vitamin A. There is a difference between active and inactive vitamin A. We can save that for another day! Please do not take supplemental vitamin a in pill form with out consulting a doctor. There is a toxic level vitamin A so do not do this on your own!

Skin is our largest organ! 😱
Your skin is indicative of your internal health. “Gut health” is one of the largest triggers for acne. Your skin and is inextricably linked with our digestive tract because they share a common embryologic origin.
“Gut microbiome” is the population of microbes that are found in our digestive tract. These microbes must be kept in proper balance in order to maintain health. When they are not kept in proper balance, dysbiosis results. Dysbiosis typically increases bad microbes and decreases good microbes. When digestion is not optimal, it has a domino effect on each of the subsequent factors: nutrient absorption, hormone imbalance, leaky gut, and food sensitivity.
Now that we understand how important “gut health” is, maybe we will take it more serious!

I am changing a few things to the way lash in fills will be managed.

2 week (14-20 days) lash fills will be 1hr and 15mins at $70
3 week (21-28 days) lash fills will be 1hr and 30mins at $85
Anything over 4 weeks will be a full set and priced accordingly.

Your lashes may still look ok after 2 weeks but the amount of extension that have to be removed due to growth is almost doubled.

My policy has always been that 50% of extension still have to be remaining at your in fill. I have been EXTREMELY relaxed on this policy but I will be enforcing this moving forward. This is standard in the industry. Anything less than 50% will be a full set. There are many factors that play a role in retention. If you think you are having issues we can trouble shoot and see what we can do!
