I was up at 4am this morning to finish a project due at 8 and got to see a gorgeous sunrise out my window.
barnes launched my latest website redesign yesterday, and we got a request for another new one the same day.

I just got the go-ahead from another client to launch a several-weeks-long major site/branding/marketing plan overhaul with video that I’m excited to collaborate with a sweet friend on… next week. This weekend is for rest. 🤞🏻

The recipe that changed my life.

In 2015, I started a blog because I was bored. I didn't expect it to go anywhere, and I certainly didn't know anything about food photography, Pinterest/Instagram marketing, SEO, or healthy cooking. I posted this Zuppa Toscana recipe (coupled with a really terrible smart phone pic, I might add.) - my version of the Olive Garden favorite - on my blog. It instantly took off, and my blog started making money almost immediately.

I've heard of bloggers working like crazy for years and not having the success I had from this one blog post. I don't know if it was hard work, luck, a mix of the two, or just divine intervention, but its popularity gave me the funds and confidence I needed to do more. I spent the next few years studying social media marketing, SEO, food photography and healthy cooking (mainly gluten-free, no-sugar diets). I woke up every morning at 5am to cook, photograph and blog before work, on my lunch breaks and after dinner. I took every free class (and a lot of paid classes) I could find.

A year and a half ago, I quit my bank job in the middle of the day after a particularly drama-filled morning and never looked back. I took on some additional marketing work to supplement my blog income and kept learning about the things I enjoy doing. Now we offer my services though Adrian's company, . .barnes can create any software you can dream up and also provides web hosting and design services. I provide social media marketing and account management, SEO consultations, keyword-optimized blog posts and some design work and photography.

So this is why I say, it's the recipe that changed my life.

During our last camping trip, there was a huge storm on day two. We'd had just enough time to get everything set up and where we wanted it.

The storm was so bad that we had to take everything down and back into the camper in the pouring rain and raging thunderstorm. We were holding onto stakes, doors and awnings to keep anything and everything from blowing away.

After the storm was over, the sky turned completely orange with spiral-shaped clouds which finally dissipated and gave us this really cool view right before sunset.

I love this boy to pieces. He'll be two years old next month and is so full of love...until he's not.

He holds a grudge better than most humans I know. I brushed this tail this week, and he sat in the corner for the rest of the day pouting and pretending he couldn't hear me talking to him. A good bath makes him pissy for about 24-48 hours, and a haircut grudge lasts one to two weeks depending on how much we get cut off. 😆

Our last day at this summer. Super-excited to be heading back there this weekend!
