Kern’s Food Hall is now open! Kern’s Bakery opened on Chapman Highway in 1931 and has been a Knoxville landmark for years. In 1989, Kern’s Bread was bought out by Sara Lee, which continued to use the production facility into the 2000s. After closing down in 2012, Kern’s Bakery was added to the National Register of Historic Places. In 2019, the site was purchased for the intended use of a food hall and mixed-use community. As of April 2024, Kern’s Food Hall is now open and serves as a dining and entertainment hub in South Knoxville! Be sure to check it out! kernsfoodhall.com
