I thought about selling on Etsy myself at one point, but this makes you less inclined when this sort of thing happens. Whether we are sellers or just good neighbors, we need to stand up for those who need us too on their behalf. Please consider signing the petition and sharing. Etsy: Cancel the fee increase. Work with sellers, not against us! Etsy was founded with a vision of "keeping commerce human" by "democratizing access to entrepreneurship." As a result, people who have been marginalized in traditional retail economies -- women, people of color, LGBTQ people, neurodivergent people, etc. -- make up a significant proportion of Etsy's....

In response to this news, and yes it IS a REAL thing, many of the sellers on Etsy are placing their shops in vacation mode. Please help support your favorite Etsy sellers by NOT buying from them during this campaign time. Thank you. _/|\_ ~LM

In response to the proposed Etsy fee increase that will hit sellers starting April 11, I will be putting my Etsy shop on vacation mode from April 11-18. My work designing and creating is not my family's only source of income, but we do rely on it and I know many Etsy sellers who also depend on their sales as a major source of their household income. Etsy has continued to make money off sellers with listing fees, % of sales, % of shipping, requiring many sellers to enroll in their (paid) advertising program, and now a drastic jump in fees. Please stand in solidarity with Etsy sellers in protesting this most recent rate increase, the ridiculous star seller program, and required paid offsite ads for many top Etsy sellers.

Etsy's policies have negatively impacted my physical and mental health. The star seller program has been particularly insidious. Anything but a full 5 star review negatively impacts every single Etsy shop and our rating. Etsy mishandled and actually made a serious mistake (recording a digital pattern sale as a physically shipped item) and withheld my star seller ranking for 2 weeks after I had worked tirelessly for months to achieve their arbitrary stats. I did not take a single day off in those months OR SINCE in order to maintain a good rating for responding to every single message I receive within 24 hours -- Missing one message can mean being unable to achieve star seller status for a month.

I have also personally reported several significant issues that I have with Etsy to their representatives FOR YEARS and there have been no positive changes to fix these problems.
1) Etsy does not allow me to send out pattern updates to previous customers.
2) Etsy only allows me to list 5 files with each listing, which limits the number of language translations I am permitted to provide.
3) My customers are regularly unable to download their pattern from Etsy's Mobile Interface. This is confusing and often leads to customers feeling frustrated with me instead of with Etsy.
4) Etsy does not allow my customers to purchase my digitally downloadable patterns as a gift for someone else. In the age of the pandemic and years of social distancing, there should absolutely be a way for you to send your friend a digital crochet pattern as a gift without hassle.
5) When customers lose their email receipt with a link to download, I have no ability to send out another link or email with a link. And again, I am typically blamed for the lack of access.

Another project that I finished late into winter. The present ribbons were from a set of 3 that I painted red (they were not originally). I had the snowmen for forever and wanted to make earrings out of them, they are glass. Only a touch weighty. And the bells also were bought separate. It all came together nicely…but I had a handful of hiccups before I found the best method of attachment & wrapping. ~ LM
