Hello Everyone! One of the most common questions we get as a pediatric dental office is .. When should I bring my child to the dentist?
Many parents are unsure of when they should take their child to the dentist for the first time. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children should see a dentist for the first time by age one, but the majority of children in the U.S. do not have their first dental appointment until long after age two. This has consequences – as children get older, their risk for tooth decay increases. The first dental visit will look different for every child – but starting regular dental appointments young can help children learn to put a value on oral care and establish healthy habits that can last a lifetime. Parents should bring their child to see a dentist after their first tooth comes in and no later than their first birthday.

Are Sealants the same thing as Fillings? Nope! 🚫
A Sealant is preventative, while a Filling is damage repair.
Dental Sealants are a thin coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth! Dental Fillings fill the holes that have formed in the enamel.
Dental Sealants fill the grooves on the teeth to smooth out the surface for extra protection & easier brushing. 🦷
According to the CDC, Sealants prevent about 80% of cavities in molars.

The first tooth that pops out is the moment you should take your child to the dentist! You should make sure to schedule an appointment by the time they are one year old because that's when their teeth begin to form into the smile you know and love.

As a hot topic for parents, thumb sucking is normal during a child's first few months of life. However, prolonged thumb sucking can cause problems with tooth alignments and palette distribution, leading to poor oral health.

Halitosis is a common concern faced by those with poor oral health. Mouthwash is a powerful tool in killing the bacteria responsible, and is an important part of your routine.
Saving your child's natural primary teeth is essential to ensure their adult teeth come incorrectly. Avoid costly orthodontic bills by avoiding dental extraction with a pediatric root canal.

Brushing needs to be part of your every day routine. Most Americans spend a total of 38 day's worth of time brushing their teeth throughout their lives.
Twice yearly dental check-ups are essential for everyone, but they can be even more important for children. These early visits ensure that your dentist can identify issues before they become serious, saving you money later on.
