Here are some lip care tips to keep your lips healthy, hydrated, and happy!
- Do not lick, bite, or pick at your lips. Although it may feel natural, and better at the moment, it only drys out your lips further.
- Always reapply your lip balm several times a day and before bed.
- When going outside, make sure to apply a lip balm that contains 30 SPF or higher. Yes, even during the winter! The sun is more likely and easily able to burn dry, chapped lips.
- Chapped lips are dry lips - drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
Slide over to see a few ingredients that can help heal your chapped lips. Choose a lip balm that contains one or more of the listed ingredients!

Razor bumps occur when the hair follicle curls back into your skin and becomes irritated, causing redness and swelling. Shaving is a tedious process that most rush through. You can prevent razor bumps if you take your time to follow these tips!
- Exfoliating helps get rid of dead skin cells and also helps get those pesky hairs out from under the skin!
- Softening your hair before shaving, like at the end of a shower or with a warm, damp cloth, can cause the hair to swell and be less likely to curve into your skin.
- Remember to never pull or stretch your skin while shaving, and never pluck a hair inside a razor bump! Either can cause new razor bumps and worsen existing ones.
Nonetheless, you can't always avoid a razor bump, and some people are simply more naturally prone to receiving them!

I write to you because of an urgent matter impacting healthcare in our country. No matter which side of the political aisle you reside on, healthcare impacts all of us, including our family and our friends. I am writing to ask you to contact your Congressmen to ask them to adequately fund and support medical clinics. Starting January 1, 2023, Medicare will drop reimbursement by 8.5% to medical offices, without providing any discount to you, the patient. This is in addition to the 2% sequestration cut that was reinstituted earlier this year, making for a combined 10.5% cut.
After COVID-19 and pressure converting to electronic medical records, more doctors are leaving healthcare than ever before and many retiring earlier than expected. We all have faced longer wait times for appointments and/or the experience of searching for a new physician because of doctors’ early retirement. Added to the payment cuts, all of us are experiencing the highest rate of inflation since 1981.
Despite this, Congress has recently made a decision to make MAJOR Medicare cuts to physician clinics. Even if you don't have Medicare, Medicare funding affects all patients. Commercial insurances such as Anthem/BCBS, United HealthCare, Healthlink, Aetna, Cigna, UMR, etc. base their rates of pay on those of Medicare. (As an aside, many commercial insurance companies are projecting continued record profits. For example, United Healthcare projects 2023 revenues of up to $360 billion. To put this in perspective, the entire US Oil and Gas industry had revenues just north of $200 billion in 2021.)
If these cuts to physician clinics are pushed through, this will force many offices to close and produce a physician shortage disaster in this country. Many physicians may have to close or resort to a direct pay, cash practice, declining insurance altogether. Although I’m a physician, I am also a patient. I, too, rely on insurance based healthcare, as does my family. As a healthcare consumer, this drop in reimbursement does not mean you or I will be paying less for health insurance. Quite the contrary- our rates as patients likely will rise as they do each year.
This is an urgent appeal for action. Time is nearly up.

Our representatives include; Senator Roy Blunt (314-725-4484) and Representatives Josh Hawley (314-354-7060) and Ann Wagner (636-779-5449). Please tell Congress how important it is that physician practices have the resources they need to serve their patients, cover their costs, pay their employees, and keep the lights on next year and for years to come. Please share the link above to help our efforts.
Contact Congress NOW and demand that they protect our patients and practices by canceling these devastating Medicare cuts in their entirety.
Thank you for taking action and being a part of this important movement.
