I love meeting patients and tackling chronic problems in new ways. Some of my favorite moments are when I explain why symptoms keep occurring, how medications may be interacting, or why referral authorizations have been delayed and patients tearfully thank me for getting to the bottom of their worst problems in a new way and helping them understand it for the first time. I have a long history in primary care, behavioral health, and pain management and a special interest in pharmacology, functional nutrition, and integrated medicine. This often helps me to coach patients and empower them in brand new ways to better manage or even resolve chronic conditions.

I completed my doctorate of nursing practice last spring, updated my Medication for Op**te Use Disorders certification this summer, and start another doctorate program in Functional Nutrition and Integrated Medicine in January 2024.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering a career in your profession?
WE NEED YOU, start now even if you have to start school part-time, and just don't give up. Job shadow or volunteer in clinics, hospice, and hospitals to find out what healthcare jobs you are most interested in. Become a phlebotomist, nursing assistant, or medical assistant and work your way through nursing school. Go as slowly as you need to, but just don't stop. All of the experience will make you a better provider, colleague, and team member.

Is there a specific achievement or recognition during your nursing career that you are particularly proud of?
All of my work in psychiatry home care, home health, and hospice. I love going to patients and making care happen as soon as it's requested.
