How Physical Therapist Can Avoid The Prior Medical History Trap - Hi, I'm Efrem Lawrence, Attorney at E.L Law Firm, And in this video,
I tell the physical therapists how they can avoid the prior medical history trap
that are set by insurance companies.

Insurance companies love to prey on you when you fail to request your
patient's prior medical records. This happens about 90% of the time So for every patient that you have that is covered by Pip or MedPay, I want you to follow these simple steps.

Ask who is your primary care physician? Ask what primary physicians have
you visited in the last five years? Ask your patient to sign a compliant medical record authorization form.

Hi, I'm Efrem Lawrence, Attorney at E.L Law Firm

In this video, I'll tell you why chiropractors must avoid the bad handwriting mistake.

One of the simplest things that chiropractors can do to really help their billing is correct or bad handwriting.

I get it. You're going to take those handwritten notes and you're going to have them dictate it into the rest of the records.

Those handwritten notes, however, are easy ways for insurance companies to deny some of the Billings just because they can't read them.

So I'm going to read to you a note that a close friend of mine in the insurance industry said to me regarding the bad handwriting says a submitted record must stand alone as a bill of bullet counter without additional records, personal insights or knowledge of the injured person's condition.

The secret is all in your notes. They must be easily readable. Stand alone, as if every encounter is the first time you've seen the patient and contain clear and concise handwriting.

So if you are handwriting your notes as you go, just take a few extra seconds to make sure that the writing is readable and you can avoid some of the mistakes that prevent you from getting your billables paid by the insurance company.
