Happy Healthy New Year to all our Inspire Friends and Family!!

Joe and I had the pleasure of visiting two of our former patients who are currently in skilled nursing facilities this weekend. Our visits left a lasting impression on us.
We visited two extraordinary people who have conquered more health obstacles than any single person should have to deal with in a lifetime. Even with their health issues they are optimistic, kind, caring people, with some warrior spirit mixed in. 😊
It made me ask, If we were in similar situations would we exhibit the same grace and strength? I’d like to thinks so, but you never know unless you are truly tested. What I do know is that we can all strive do a little better everyday…every day is a gift.❤️

Our time together left us feeling so grateful that we crossed paths with these amazing humans. The best part of what we do is making connections. Yes, we try to heal people and teach people about how they’re bodies work, but the very best part Is the relationships we’ve formed with all of you!!!
We’ve learned, and been inspired from all of you, and we are so incredibly grateful that you’ve chosen us to be a very small part of your journey.

Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!

We are looking forward to a year full of happiness, health and love for all of you…and the strength to handle any challenges that come your way!!

We will be ready to help in any way we can!!

Cheers to 2024!!!🍾🥂

How do you want to function as you age?
How do you want to function in the Last 10 years of your life?
Longevity is a buzz word that you see everywhere…but I would change the premise.

It’s not how long you live, but how well you live!! (Being sick, weak, or physically vulnerable is no fun for sure)

Can you go on a hike at 80?
Do you want to be able to get up off the floor in your 60’s and beyond?
Avoid falls?
Go up stairs without getting winded?
Carry your own grocery bags? Go on any vacation without worrying about barriers?
Pick up your grandkids?
Science tells us in numerous studies how important movement in our daily lives is.

Yet, our lives revolve around convenience..making everything easier.

We see in our clinic, many outstanding people everyday, and in 20 years of practice we see so much avoidable sickness, and disability…diet, exercise, sleep, community/mental health all matter!! (As well as being an educated consumer of health care)
We have much more control of our health than the average person thinks.

Our goal is to help educate people on how their bodies work, and how we can learn to help ourselves live long healthy lives.

Movement/exercise is one of the most important components of our general health (We will touch upon the other components in other posts )

I challenge our community to start changing our attitudes about movement and exercise.
Start with baby steps!
Park in the furthest parking spot (Joe always laughs when I tell him to “park in the back”)
Take the stairs
Put on those dusty sneakers, and go for a walk, or jog.
Bang out 10 body weight exercises while your coffee is brewing (heel raises, mini squats, counter push ups)
The goal is to do SOMETHING every day!
You don’t necessarily need expensive gym memberships/classes
I would argue that consistency is most important!

We will be posting some interesting resources/tips in the coming weeks for those who are interested in trying to improve their overall health and get moving. I know I want to do all those things that I listed above as I age.

Let’s do this!!

In good health,
Vicki and Joe

(Of course consult with your medical practitioner before starting any new program)

Healing Will Take Time & Physical Therapy Can Assist With Recovery Like it or not, injuries are a part of life. And if you’re an athlete or active individual, this fact is more likely to ring true, as you’re bound to experience an injury from time to time—or perhaps even more often.

Hi All
Hope everyone is enjoying some sunshine and warm weather!! It’s a great time to get out and move!! We all know that our health is our greatest asset, but how consistently are we doing what we need to, to enjoy better physical and mental health. I know for me, I’m still a work in progress. I wanted to share with you a free app that I have found incredibly beneficial in keeping me motivated to move, and lift my mood. It’s the Nike Run Club app. (Listed as NRC). Now, many of you will say I hate running, why would I do that??😝😄
Here’s the deal…They have guided runs, all times/lengths, topics. The Nike Global Coach is Chris Bennett and he is fantastic!! You can walk every single guided run. (The app will keep track of your distance/stats and you can play whatever music you love) It’s not about how fast you can go, or how far….it’s about getting your sneakers on and getting to the start. It’s about doing something great for your physical and mental health, it’s about laughing, good advice, lousy advice and everything in between! As coach Bennett says “It’s about running….but..it’s not about running.” 😃
Try it out! Tell me what you think in the comments.
If you lace your sneakers (good supportive ones of course😀) up and just get moving it’s a win!!
This is what the app looks like, and me enjoying one of my favorites “Thank you Run”. There are also run/walks using “Headspace creator Andy P as coach, great for working on mindfulness and mental health. Definitely utilize the guided runs.

If you have any questions on starting a regular exercise program always consult your medical professionals.

Joe and I are always available to help get you started.

In good health always,
Vicki
