Preserving flowers is a delicate process. It’s best to preserve them in silica gel (first pic) rather than air-drying them (second pic) which usually leaves your flowers misshapen and crinkled. Some flowers will discolor even if you use silica gel. The third pic shows bright pink edged roses, the fourth pic is the same flowers after 7 days in the silica gel. Hot pink / fuchsia roses will usually appear purple after preserving them. 🌸

Merry Lilly Earlier this year, I started preserving wildflowers on our farm and making charcuterie trays for my daughter's business using the wildflowers to remind her of home. This lead to making daisy earrings with the inscription "You are loved" for both of my daughters. After posting a few photos, a few.....

Patience is definitely a virtue when preserving flowers and working with resin! Each letter has 3 - 4 layers of resin, each layer takes at least 24 hours to harden before adding a new layer. It takes about 72 hours to cure and about 21 days until the project is heat and scratch resistant. Oh and constant checking for bubbles! (All pieces will have some micro bubbles - almost inevitable when you are working with natural flowers.). I’m thoroughly enjoying this process🌸
