Breeder of quality pedigreed Californian, New Zealand and English Angora. Lancaster PA, USA We do raise rabbits for consumption. We love every one of our rabbits.

We breed pedigreed Californians, Rex (NOT mini), New Zealand, and occationally English Angora Rabbits. This page isn't all about meat rabbits! BUT ... Occasionally, there might be posts that (to some) would be considered graphic. We don't have a huge property and want to provide our family with a healthy, sustainable, protein source that doesn't need a large pasture. Rabbits fit that purpose for o

I havent posted in awhile. Winter in Central Pa puts me in hibernation!
I just picked up an amazing pair of EA. Brother/sister so they'll be paired up with one of my other EA for breeding.

Oh the crimp in their fiber! I'm in love!! The female is Ermin and the male is Blue Pearl. I wanted a white, but not rew and NO VM, to blend with my blue fiber from Thistle. So excited!

Only 8 wks and look how much fiber already! πŸ₯°πŸ’•

I just picked up this New Zealand hunk from Bunny Hill Rabbitry. They have some amazing rabbits! I've named him Biggs (Luke Skywalkers best friend). All my NZ have Star Wars names.

In a few weeks I'll be getting a red doe from a different rabbitry. I love my REW NZ's. I cant wait to start working with Reds!

09/02/2023

My husband and i have been discussing the rabbitry. We've decided that Rex isnt a breed that works well for us. They grow slower, so as a food source... more time and $$ goes into raising them. They tend to have a rainbow assortment of colors in each litter. I have nice rabbits that i dont want to cull, but they're not the 'colors' people are looking for. I end up with full cages and more $$ going in to them.

I'm going to focus on my Californians, New Zealands (Reds and REW), and occationally breed angora.

Doe2 looks better than her pic shows. She really didnt want to be handled today.

I have a 2nd unrelated litter that wont be ready until 8/25.

Well... i'm keeping 2 of my Rex kits to help improve my line. The black otter is staying. I was concerned about breeding him to castor, but other Rex breeders assured me color outcomes would be fine. I'm also keeping the broken chocolate doe. Since chocolate and black are dense colors, these 2 should make nice kits. Now to come up with names.

Photos from Pam's Runny Babbit Rabbitry's post 07/28/2023

The 3 white Rex kits with black eyes are considered ermin. Likely frosty, but time will tell. When they molt its entirely possible some grey ticking will show up. 2 males and 1 female. The gray kit is a female chin.

These colors were a total surprise. I bred my REW buck to one of my broken castor does, to see what recessives she carried. Surprise!

Took some pics of my favorite Rex kits. Both male, diff litters, and hard to let go. I cant keep them all, so they're looking to hop out. Lancaster PA.
PM me with ??

The black otters ears are droopy because he's hot. Me too bunny...me too!

I paired Catrina (broken castor) up with my REW buck, Merlin. I got some interesting kits!
1 castor, 1lilac chinchilla, 1blue (or black) chinchilla, 1 broken-- not sure what, and 3 solid white kits with black eyes. I'm told the white kits are ermine. There's no visible color ticking on their fur so they're broken ermine which will eliminate/cover the color. They're really cool looking!

Pedigreed Californians, born 5/18 and ready to hop out. These are Elouise and Busters kits, and all look REALLY nice and have nice bright red eyes.

PM me with interest. I will get individual pics upon request.

I had a hen decide the duck house was a good place to lay eggs and go broody. Today she hatched out 13! The 14th was pipping and is in an incubator to dry off.
I have 2 more broody hens sitting on eggs πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
Anyone interested in unsexed chicks (my roos are crazy friendly)? Dad is 100% Black Copper Marans. Mom is 1/2 BCM and 1/2 lavender orpington (i hatched her). All the eggs looked the same, but its possible a mom could be EE. All the chicks have feathered legs like dad.
