Lansing Cyclones Kids MTB Racing Team

Another practice spent on cement and skills drills because the trails are just too wet 😭 so incredibly proud of our little team though! Look at all those purple and lime jerseys!

The trails were too muddy last night so we look over Granger Meadows park and worked on skills practice last night! It was a beautiful evening and we learned so much!

What are you most excited about watching? While it’s not nearly as fun as hitting the trails with friends, it’s still pretty exciting to watch these incredible women tearing up the trails at the 2024 Olympics!

We had an incredible ride last night at Merrell Trail in Grand Rapids! If you are looking to come ride the trails to see if you would like to join the team please send us a message or email at [email protected] so we can let you know where and when our next practice is! If you are already on the list to receive that information be on the lookout for an email!

If you weren’t already aware, you should be! We have a really great group of people that ride weekly around the area and they always have something EPIC Mountain Bike going on. They just announced their infamous EPIC week! These rides are open to everyone, not just adults!

**it also happens to be the same week we have our first race of the season (August 24/25 at Merrell Trail in Grand Rapids)which we think is pretty EPIC too! **

Come hang out with us, ask questions, get to know us and most importantly enjoy some food and drinks provided by the Trek team at the Grand Ledge store!

🥁 We will be welcoming Anne from Mid-Michigan Mountain Biking Association MMMBA to tell us about our local mountain bike organization and talk to us about trail stewardship before we hit the trails and work on skills! Anne is an incredible leader in our community and on the trails and we are so grateful that she is taking the time to come meet with us!

If you have not submitted your team dues yet please do so asap! Information regarding how to do that is in your initial team email and on the team reach app!

Lastly, we will be at the Trek Store in Grand Ledge this Saturday from 2-4 for anyone who wants to stop by, say hi and talk to us about the team!

We decided to focus on community today and headed over to Burchfield Park to ride some trails with the team! It was sweaty but we focused on fun and had a great time 🚴

We had a great team practice at ICD North last night! Big thank you to everyone who works so hard to maintain the trails and HUGE thank you to the coaches/parents who show up every week and make practices like this possible. We have a rolling sign up so if you have been thinking about joining us and either have kids between 5-18 or just want to help us coach please reach out!

Due to incoming weather we are cancelling our ride and team meeting tonight! We will let you know as soon as we can when we have rescheduled the meeting for.

Due to trail conditions, our social mountain bike ride at Sleepy was more of a gravel bike ride 🙂; it was a great ride for conditioning. We also did skill work on cornering.

Jersey orders are open! If there is any chance that you will be joining the team this year and would like a team jersey for race season this is your only chance to snag one! The store will be open until June 5th as that’s the latest recommended date in order to ensure we get our kits before race season! Let us know if you have any questions!!!

First Burchfield team ride in the books!

Please note that the last Tuesday in May will be our first team meeting as well as a social ride! We would like to invite anyone interested out to ask questions, hear our plans and get to know us. If this date does not work for you PLEASE reach out and let me know. Mark, Andy and I have discussed having a secondary team meeting on a weekend if that is helpful to get everyone up to date and included in person.

We will be opening our team jersey store the first week of June. As some of you may know, the jersey's take a while to make especially as other teams get their orders in. Once we place an order we will not be able to place another one so with that said this is your opportunity to snag a jersey if there is ANY chance you are thinking about joining the team! They are great jersey's anyway and we are super excited about the design we went with this year and hope it really helps us to stick out as we hit the trails!

As always, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have before the end of May. The sooner we get everyone signed up the sooner we can plan for the summer!

Today (July 31st) is the last day for a half off discount for whole season registration at MISCA or $10 off for individual races.

An opportunity to show our support of the local community and represent the cyclones! Make sure to fill out the volunteer form if you can!

Ready to help tame some trail? We have the okay to mow and do some additional work at ICD. With enough help we'll have ICD cleaned up between Friday afternoon and Saturday. For Sunday we'll be moving to West Lansing Trail. We'll have a walk behind brush hog, a couple of trimmers, a blower, shovel for sign relocation and more. Rotating people through to run the mowers and trimmers, navigation posts to be trimmed around, some to be dug up and moved, low hanging branches trimmed. A bit of trail to brush out. No special skills required.

Here's how: Sign up here https://volunteersignup.org/7D4QB for a block of time. This will help everyone plan so we don't have a lot of people at once and none at others. It'll ask for your contact info which will only be used to reach you if needed for this event.

Bring fan rakes (aka leaf rakes) if you have them to help move trimmed grass, loppers, pruners, hedge trimmers, etc.. Gloves, eye protection, bug spray, long pants, hearing protection and water/soda are recommended.

For Friday and Saturday: meet at the north loop parking lot that is on north side of Dexter Trail: 1031 W. Dexter Trail, Mason.
For Sunday: meet at Hunter's Ridge parking lot, it's at the very end of the gravel drive. 4099 Hunter's Ridge, Lansing

As we approach the end of July, if you register for the MISCA series pass before August 1st, the cost is half off the full price for all races ($120 for elementary vs $240 for all.)

If you don’t want to commit to that, single elementary races are $30 instead of $40 before August 1st.
