OPEN UP THE CONVERSATION FOR THEM :
This is key!! Sometimes your clients won’t feel comfortable or confident enough to express the change they want.

SAVE INSPO FOR THEM :
If I find inspo that I think will compliment a client, I totally save it for them. Sometimes at the start of my work day I’ll even go looking for inspo for my guests.
I find that this 1. makes them feel very special because I took extra time to think about their hair. 2. keeps me inspired, and I can start brewing up formulas in advance.

HEAR THEM OUT : to all of my very outgoing stylist friends — make sure your client does most of the talking during the consultation. And if you aren’t the talkative type, push yourself to ask lots of questions and make sure the communication is there.

Lastly, at the end of the service — ask what they love most about their hair! (This will give you even more direction for their next appointments & make you 😀 hearing them express how they feel about your work!)

I was talking to a friend about this today, we were chatting about how obsessed we are with Mondays, New Years, fresh starts etc; you get the point!

Here’s something I am thinking about as I plan for the next year and work on my personal and professional goals … Starting 2023 is not about leaving a good or a bad year behind, it’s about the opportunity to INTENTIONALLY reflect on what you learned, how you grew, what went well, or what didn’t and use it to inspire yourself realizing HOW MUCH MORE YOU ARE CAPABLE OF ACHIEVING ✨✨✨

Easy tips to maintain your mermaid extensions ✨💗

+always brush and secure it before bed.
I personally wear mine in a loose ballerina bun on top of my head, but a low braid is good too!

+ don’t overuse purple shampoo (all my blonde babes) the sulfates or ammonia in a lot of purple shampoos can dry your extensions out and significantly cause “wear” and dullness.

+ treat them like you would treat your own hair. moisturize with a deep conditioner weekly, apply detangler before brushing when wet, and use oil daily!!

+ enjoy it. because HELLO… you look amazing!

First we color matching using our beautiful extension swatches! (So much fun to look at all the endless color options from solid colors, dimensional colors, balayage & rooted)

Third major factor to creating a magical, seamless blend is cutting & blending your extensions so that all of your hair moves and styles the same.

So we all know I'm a stylist/ salon owner here, but do you know how I actually got here?⁣⁣

I am pretty sure it was destiny from the time I was like 10. That was when I made a makeshift salon in my bathroom and I would force my older sisters to come get curls and braids and let me take pictures of them after 😂 I would also give them pedicures and do little five dot flowers as “nail art” on their toes. ⁣⁣

By the time I was 14 ( this is a big secret so 🤫) I had an online fitness coaching program. I sat behind my desktop monitor and had about 8 grown women on an “ab challange” 😂 WTH No one knew a 14 was keeping them accountable (my parents didn’t know for years) Pretty sure that was the start of my journey as an entrepreneur (you know besides the Girl Scout cookie hustle) 😂⁣⁣

As much as I loved playing with hair I didn’t see it as a real career so I enrolled in college and started taking marketing & business classes while I worked at Starbucks. ☕️ ⁣⁣

When I finally got around to going to cosmetology school I was working at a salon doing front desk, & social media for about two years.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
After graduation, I hit the ground running at the salon I was at. I was obsessed with creating & worked LONG DAYS- LONG WEEKS.⁣⁣

A year of working like that, I got a bit burnt out & decided to switch things up. I took a short break (like 2 months) from doing hair

That was short lived when I found a chair to rent at a local salon and officially became an independent artist! ⁣
⁣⁣
In 2019 I started officially dreaming up (like planning, researching) my ideas for a salon. With a lot of help, I was able to make that dream a reality. In Dec. 2019 we opened Sand Bar Beauty! ⁣⁣

Since then, the salon and I (in a committed relationship 😉) have grown and evolved so much in ways I never could have imagined. I am SO SO proud of what this place has become, the women who have connected, the talent & hair artistry, the love and fuzzies that radiate through this place. It unbelievable. ⁣⁣

Wondering why anybody would do that? It's all about that density, and the pops of color baby!

For me, up to the point of adding extensions, my hair had been trashed with color, straightening treatments, and is sooo dark naturally. (So I could never get it as light as I wanted it to be)

I was desperate to achieve my dream color and fill in some spots around my face where I had experienced a lot of breakage.

I chose to add tape
which allowed me to fix both problems at once - have the bright pops of blonde I had been wanting in my hair and have a fuller more voluminous look.

This technique is perfect for any client wanting long lasting, lower -maintenance color ✨

I wanted to share 5 basic tips for maintaining healthy, beautiful hair even after your blonding appointment ✨⁣
⁣
1. Never go more than 10-12 weeks without a trim! Once you get split ends there is no way to repair them unless you cut them off. If you do not trim them, they will travel up your hair shaft and BREAK OFF. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2. Do not wash your hair everyday!! Some people complain that their hair gets super oily and they have to wash it everyday, but I say, the reason you are getting oily is because your washing it every day! Every time you wash your hair, your oil glands keep reproducing and replenishing from your daily washing causing you to produce an excess amount of oils! Start washing every other day and use a good dry shampoo to switch things up and notice a difference. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
3. Products! Your hair needs daily vitamins just like your body! I recommend, a good leave- in conditioner at least (for my friends who like to keep it simple) To take it to the next level, your hair will really love a smoothing oil or moisture cream for hydration.⁣⁣

4. LIMIT your HEAT source! ⁣⁣
This is a biggg one! PRO- TIP: If you absolutely need to blowdry your hair, let it air dry 90% of the way. ⁣⁣
Try to switch all of your tools to medium heat and never use an iron without a temperature gauge! ⁣⁣
Your hair will become very brittle and dry overtime if you continue using high heat. ⁣⁣

5. And the big Tip of the day is to USE GOOD SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER from the salon (not from Walgreens, target, Amazon) will your hair fall off if you use theses? Maybe not, but it really makes a huuuuge difference when we are coloring your hair in the salon. (Health of your hair after coloring) ⁣⁣
You want to stay away from “sulfates” aka sodium laurel sulfate. This ingredient will strip the color and good oils out of your hair! If you invest in your hair, you NEED to invest in compatible products with the right ingredients for your hair!!!⁣.⁣

Traditionally at the salon, we understand a partial foil is the top part of the head, a full foil is the whole head, and a “balayage” is a trendy grown out foil look for young girls 😂 … at least that’s the kind of understanding most clients have about color.
