The "Next 4 Steps" litter of kittens project
Please HELP - One or two volunteers to assist me with a kitten project (one hour of time) - These are four (4) just rescued kittens that need their fur trimmed, a bath and a warm dry-off today/tonight (Oct. 21). They also have injuries I need to treat but can't until their fur is trimmed and clean. We are in the Casitas off fairway #2 in Picacho Hills in west Las Cruces. Sounds dumb, but needs to be said, don't offer to help if you're allergic to cats :-) Call Lee @ 575-343-5089

The Cat’s Meow Fall Fundraiser

Presenting the release of CO 13! With the standard three days of rest after being spayed, this sweet former kitten-factory mother gets to live out the rest of her life back in the colony and with her buddies. In the last two weeks we’ve saved three kittens, spayed two mother cats and helped relive the pain and suffering of a wounded mother cat who could barely walk. In this case we were lucky to have a $1,000 donation from a kind woman one of our volunteers met at the gym. A conversation was brought up about the injured mother cat when our volunteer, Barbara, mentioned she works with The Cat's Meow Las Cruces and she may be able to help. The donor promised the $1,000 gift if Barbara could arrange immediate assistance. I was called in to handle the trapping around 9:30 on a Friday night. Trapping feral cats in a colony of 25 so is pretty easy especially since they haven’t seen me and my drop trap before But I can’t express to you how difficult it was to conjure out the mother with a broken front leg and get her under the drop trap. I must have passively scurried away 15 kitties I could’ve easily trapped to finally get her after about five hours. In addition to her broken leg she had a large cut on her neck that had been there for probably 3 or so days. She was so kind and sweet with her green eyes and cute nose. I gave her a quality late night dinner and she rested comfortably in a nice, quiet and climate controlled cat closet at my house before heading to the Dr. Short’s Zia Mobile Veterinarian where this sweet kitty was finally given the relief she desperately needed. Me and TCM frequently get calls and messages to trap cats, so many in fact I can’t take on but just a few of the requests. Of course I’ll always take a call for a cat in a bad way like last week. The kindness of the donor allowed TCM to summon me to trap, spay and release CO12 and CO13 along with assistance in caring for their deceased mother. The babies are doing great wit

Happy Tails heading to dinner today at The Cat’s Meow (TCM)! Of course these are some of the open room kitties, there are two kitten rooms - Q1 and Q2 - to feed along with 15 kitty condos that house about 30 cats and the recreation area that houses about about 10 or so cats. We had four (4) joyful adoptions today and that puts us at sixteen (16) month-to-date!!! Let’s keep things Puuuurrrring along in the second half of September!
