Article from on how inside ventilation can be improved to help reduce the spread of inside.
Here’s a few things we’ve learned so far during this pandemic:
1) Viral load matters — the more virus a person is exposed to at the onset = the greater potential for infection or a more severe case.
2) Mask wearing works — in theory, if everyone wears it around people outside of their household, the protection is symbiotic (it goes both ways and protects both parties).
3) Distance works too — especially if outside and don’t have a mask, keeping at least 6ft away will help reduce viral load. Elements like gravity & humidity will bring the virus to the ground much faster.
4) can linger INSIDE for longer periods — scientists have found up to 3hrs in some cases! There’s more research showing this virus has some airborne qualities - while it may not have the transmissibility, let’s say that has - it can still linger through inside air if a person wasn’t wearing a mask, coughing and/or sneezing inside. Reason recommends opening windows if you’ve been exposed or have people over.
5) Surface transmission is plausible, but likely does not have the transmissibility that person-to-person encounters do.

How Indoor Ventilation Systems Can Help Prevent or Permit the Spread of COVID-19 Outdoor interactions are safer when it comes to COVID-19, but what can be done to improve ventilation in buildings?
Innovative Research & Analysis wanted to run calculations comparing positive cases with hospitalization rates. We noticed this was not included in SNHD’s case counts and understanding these rates is important information to share. This compares age, cases and rate of hospitalizations with in Southern Nevada. The lowest positive cases by far are children under 4 yrs old. The lowest hospitalizations are children 5-17yrs. The highest case numbers is 25-49 yrs, which is also looking at the largest age group, so it is not surprising this age group would have the most positive cases. Fewer cases are 50-64yrs, but hospitalizations more than double from previous age group. 64+ has third fewest case numbers, but by far highest hospitalizations more than doubling once again compared to 50-64 yr age range.
Link to SNHD case numbers:

So. Nevada Covid cases compared to hospitalizations by age:
4 yrs & under: 7/272 = 2.6%
5 - 17 yrs: 12/962 = 1.2% (Lowest)
18 - 24 yrs: 42/1692 = 2.5%
25 - 49 yrs: 507/7042 = 7.2%
50 - 64 yrs: 581/3128 = 18.6%
64 + yrs: 821/1996 = 41% (highest)
As states continue to open back up, here’s a number of to watch out for: at home testing kits, phishing emails & online donations.
With 74% of Nevada residents living in Southern Nevada, 81% of cases are in — 15% of statewide population is in with 17.6% of positive cases.
